In the last three games Washington has been outsacked 18-2.

So is Brown the starter going forward?

Weird how Chris Peterson wasn't as successful at UW as he was at Boise St despite having better players (BSU almost always won their biggest games whereas UW didn't under him), and now Fisch is not only doing the same thing but he's totally face-planting.

Fucking Kalen DeBoer. Losing him just killed the program.

I mean... how do you quantify success?

He made the CFP at UW and won 3x conference titles with powers like Stanford, USC, Utah and Oregon in the mix. Boise played in a joke conference.

He made BCS bowls at Boise, yes... but never competed for a National Title and despite winning the 2009 Fiesta Bowl and going undefeated... they finished 4th in the AP Poll... same as UW.

The Fiesta bowl was often the worst P5 conference winner vs the best G5 team. It wasn't UW playing Alabama in fkn Atlanta for a chance at a National Title. Petersen had some rotten luck in who UW had to play in their BCS bowl games too... Saquon led PSU? Haskins led OSU in '18 when he led CFB with 50 TD's and nearly 5,000 yards?

Petersen was an amazing coach.

Fisch is a fraud. In the year they went 10-3 in Arizona... he didn't even get the QB right. He lucked out that De Laura got hurt and Fifita randomly stepped in and dominated.

You know what would be crazy?

What if Coach Pete came out of retirement to take over after UW fires Fisch?

I'm not sure I have ever seen our Dawgs out-played as they were last night.

Williams was shit..... he couldn't make a decisions to save his life. This season he has seemed to be a very slow decision maker and his accuracy has turned into shit. I can't say that I was happy he got hurt, but lets get real.

The defense.... did they practice what Iowa runs this last week, or did they just sip coffee in the quad? They were holy-shit bad this week getting burned on way too many plays and missing tackles.

I think a few people have already said...

THIS WEEK, THIS TEAM WAS UNWATCHABLE.
I mean, the Montana game was well worse... and it led to an eventual firing.

I said before the season I thought defensive line was going to be a concern. There's a real talent issue at defensive tackle. I watched DeSean Watts get decleated and moved 10 yards back off the ball at least 3 times in the second half.

There isn't a talent issue at the offensive line. There's a scheme issue in the run game. It's existed as long as Jedd has called plays. Coleman bailed Jedd out the last 3 years but they've had many games where the vanilla run calls fooled nobody... I think back to games vs Oregon specifically. It was astounding how much more complex and creative the Iowa blocking scheme was in the run game.

I was wrong about the QB and the WR room to some degree. Demond showed brilliance at times over the last couple seasons so I expected him to take a leap forward. He has regressed and I don't know if it's a fracture in the locker room or that he's just not improved... but for Elijah Brown to come in and spin the ball like he did... there's no excuse for not seeing this on Jedd's end.

Jedd needs to go.
I believe there is a huge talent issue on the offensive line. It may be a scheme issue too, but when there is less than 2 seconds from the hiking of the ball, to the entire defense being between the offensive line and quarterback, there is a talent issue. This offensive line has been owned all season. Yes, there have been some injuries, but they have been 'handled' by most of the teams.

Petersen loathes what college football has become. It would be more likely that Neuheisel made a return than him.

I saw the game with a bunch of Iowa fans, so naturally their take was about how well the Hawkeyes played, not necessarily how bad the Huskies were. A few things I saw that were not pretty:

1. On both O and D, the line play looked like boys against men. Andy Y. in the Seattle Times notes that in Jedd Fisch's first Big Ten game two years ago, in Iowa CIty, it was the same thing. (Andy Y. brings up that it was a wake up call to the Huskies 2 years ago -- hey, welcome to the Big Ten! -- but he worries that Fisch's Huskies have not developed in two years.) This doesn't seem like in-game coaching or schemes to me, but physical talent.

2. As others have noted, Desmond Williams holds the ball too long. Hard to say if the coverage by Iowa was or was not that good, but Williams and Brown both did better with quick developing pass plays. Also, it seems that Williams's passes come in hot. I think there were some legitimate drops, but I didn't think it looks like he throws an easy to catch ball.

3. How many TD passes did Iowa have to a wide open guy? Three? (Ok, at least 2.) On one play there was a second receiver trailing the primary guy by about 5 yards who was STILL wide open and, if the ball had gone to him, would have scored untouched. The Hawkeye faithful chalked this up to great play design. I saw blown defensive schemes. Really bad.

Ugly game for the Huskies.

In all but his final season at BSU, his teams ALWAYS were up for games, virtually every single week. They whooped who they were supposed to whoop, almost never took an upset loss, and in their biggest games against top-ranked teams they almost always won and when they lost it was just barely.

With the exception of the playoff season you can't say the same about his tenure at UW, there were quite a few no-shows, especially against unranked opponents. I not only remember it well, but looked it up.

As Iowa fans, they should be well aware that over the past few seasons they've had some of the worst offenses in all of college football, including this season.

Even for as bad as the Dawgs have looked so far, this game looked totally fake. If they played this game 100 games, this was probably the #1 best possible result for Iowa.
