He's a younger Ketel Marte. We need to stop with this bs of targeting circus freaks and focus on studs. I know this organization will never do that but it would be nice if one day they did.
Totally agree!

If we are targeting serious impact players, who is at the top of your list, DT?

Addressing the new ideas in your offseason plan:

1. The Braves would laugh at that proposal and hang up the phone. They're going to get some pretty good offers for Acuna, and the offer of a pitcher like Miller who has put up a 0.6 bWAR in 39 starts over the last two seasons (just an AVERAGE starter would have put up a 2.2 bWAR), a single A pitcher who had a good 2026 but is the Mariners' #11 prospect, and a tombstone like Rodden who nobody would want is going to have the Braves' GM looking around for hidden cameras to see if he's on Punk'd. This is the epitome of a Fan Trade.

2. Pass on Dubon. His bat will go dead at T-Mobile and he's never been an everyday shortstop. Either go after someone better or pull Emerson's head out of his ass.

3. Abreau is intriguing and worth taking a shot at. It would be interesting to see how he'd pitch at T-Mobile after spending his entire career thus far in a bandbox.

4. Estevez is also a good one to take a shot at, except that if the Royals aren't going to try to re-sign him, there's probably a good reason for this. Have to take that into consideration.

Again, our offseason should start with getting Teruaki Sato.
Pirates beat writer proposed Miller and Brash for Acuna.

Brash popped 2.1 bWAR the last 2 years and has spent much of the last 3 years injured.

I don't think my trade is that far off given what others are proposing.
Sounds like that guy's beating something all right, and it's not his keyboard. Look, I know that more than anything with these trades you're trying to talk yourself into believing that they're realistic, but put yourself on the other side. If the Braves offered us a starting pitcher who's shitty more than half the time and a good but brittle relief pitcher for Acuna, seriously, what would you say to that?
And you're convincing yourself that Acuna is due for some amazing trade return solely because of his name.

1) There are concerns over his attitude. That does impact his trade value.

2) He has a pretty extensive injury history dating back the last 3 seasons. And they've all been knee injuries that have taken away some of his athleticism. He isn't the player he once was... and whoever is trading for him simply hopes he can tap into what he used to be for a bit.

3) $17M a year is not negligible given the attitude and injury history. He's also only controlled for 2 more years. If he's a 2-WAR player the next 2x seasons like he was in '26... that isn't the best $$ spent.

4) You seem to do this a lot... you oversell what you think players from opposing teams are worth and then are surprised when the trade capital isn't anywhere close. DG: "Luis Castillo isn't tradeable..." "Geno has 30 homers... tell me, if you're Arizona, do you do that trade?"

Reminds me of this:

He went for Aidan Smith and Brody Hopkins who you would have called nobodies.

Miller is controlled cheaply for the next 3 seasons and has flashed ace-level stuff a lot in his first 4 seasons. 3.4 WAR 2.94 ERA seasons from pitchers don't grow on trees and he's done that closer to '27 than Acuna has and is making far less $$.

Miller struggled down the stretch... I'm not sure why but it seemed his health inhibited the stuff. But in the first half he had a 0.832 WHIP, .571 OPS against, 2.18 ERA over 57 innings. That's CY Young level performance. Again, teams aren't stupid. They know he pitched like that and what his potential is when his health is right.

Miller for Acuna is a very comparable trade... especially when you consider the Braves need young, controlled pitching more so than most teams in the league.

It works in video games if you have the “ force trades” and “ignore budget” toggled.

I think you’re right. Any negotiation for Acuna is going to start with Anderson and end with Sloan in the asking price.
No kidding, instead of calling it a Fan Trade I should have called it an MLB The Show Forced Trade. 😄

No, I'm just convinced that the Braves are going to try to trade him for players who will actually make their team better. Miller has had two seasons in a row where he made his team worse. Not one. Two. You can talk about if this and but that, but if ifs and buts were candy and nuts...
