That would be a good reason. I thought about that but then thought it would count regardless if they recouped it or not. Seems like a convoluted thing for the NFL to track. Do the Hawks have to take a screen shot of their bank account proving they got the money back and send it to NFL HQ or what. lolauroraave wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 6:42 pmIt counts against the cap. It would be like someone with $1 million net worth suing someone for 40 bucks. Why bother. I would chalk it up as a cost of doing business and move on. Most likely Malik never gets another NFL contract so it is likely a a blood from a turnip deal as well.

Have you ever seen video of people jumping the gates at New York subway stations? Yes, a majority of people do it. Cops show up. Nobody does not pay. If you let one employee get away with 800K, why wouldn't 1/2 the hot dog-beer concession workers just pocket all the cash.D-train wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 5:36 pmAllen was worth $20B when he died. $800k is .004% of that. might be convoluted, but if you think about it, it's necessary. Otherwise you encourage gaming the system with a "wink, wink, nod, nod" approach where a team purports to claim repayment without ever intending to pursue collection.D-train wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 6:57 pmThat would be a good reason. Re: Hawks going after McDowell's signing bonus
what business, anywhere on earth, allows an employee who does not perform services, to walk away with $800,000? None. You have a fiduciary responsibility as a GM to the company. Ignoring that is a fireable offense. Paul Allen's net worth has nothing to do with it, and is neither a logical or legal position to take. It's their JOB to handle the finances correctly. Seattle has been awarded half of the 1.5 mill bonus, now they have to collect. They can garnish wages if he signs with another team - but it doesn't seem like anyone will clear him medically to play. Yet.

Or they can garnish his Walmart greeter salary $800 a year for the next 1000 years. lol

As I suspected, sounds like more than a business decision. Almost like they have a personal vendetta against him which is fine.
