Ok teams cut deals......so the question becomes who are the top players chosen after the 1st round that teams are looking to pay over slot value? And how does this affect the M's?
Well considering that the M's just cut so many minor leaguers I'd be willing to wager that they are just waiting to sign as many names as they can get their hands on. As far as who those names might be, you're guess is as good as mine. I have a really good feeling about who our 1ST Rd pick will be though. I'm hoping Jordan Westburg or Jordan Walker are both there when we pick in the 2nd. Both play Third Base.
Can't believe the names of players has been released yet. Has to be today, right?
You would think. I actually had a dream about how the draft was going to play out yesterday. I woke and we hadn't been able to sign anybody of note after the 5th Rd. Hahaha, I guess you could say it was a nightmare. Usually they don't release news about cuts this early without having a some kind of list ready to be attached to it.

"We are going to take the best player available who can have the most impact,” he said of the first three rounds. “Once we get into the fourth and fifth rounds, obviously signability for some of the high school guys will take over and we will work our way through that. We are going to go for as much upside as we can that will impact our organization not only in the present moment but also thinking big picture if the opportunity arises with high school players we believe in and think can help build our system even that much stronger. We will take that opportunity, take that chance."

"Picking so high, we have narrowed it down to a select group of arms we feel fit that area of the draft,” Hunter said, “but it wouldn’t shock me if we are staring at our second- or third-round pick and a really good college arm that we thought could have gone a lot higher surprises us just because of the amount of depth in this draft.”

If this means drafting Mick Abel or Nick Bitsko for underslot at #6 over Nick Gonzales, I'm in! If its for slot and between Hancock and the prepsters, it depends. I'm still as high on Mick Abel as I was back in February. He has the highest possible ceiling of any pitcher in the entire draft. Bitsko's workout video's are electric, while his pitch aresenal and body physique scream Justin Verlander. There are so many possible directions Seattle could go.

Hunter mentioned that they've narrowed it down to arms and not position players. Interesting. It seems to contradict Dipoto's statement of looking for up the middle talent. The Draft cannot get here fast enough.

I saw this. I've got a piece that I'm gonna post this weekend along with my final Top 10 and who I think the M's will select at 6 all the way through our competitive B balance pick. I'm super excited. We are going to get a really good player at 6.

This draft kind of feels like if you were drafting 10-16, that you'd probably be getting players in the top 10 most years.

Due to the lack of baseball, the draft seems more exciting that it usually is. That kid Bitsko looks like a TOR starter.....but I still say Veen for us.

Yes my picks are in. I like Veen a lot, you know this, you've seen my boards, and I would take him in a heart beat of it was up to me. I just don't know for sure if front offices feel the same way. So I went with a high safer probability.

I hope Veen goes in the top 5. Because then Gonzales or Hancock will fall to us at 6. And I don't think Seattle would draft Veen, as much as I like him.

My entry was based off of the probability of what I though the clubs will do, not whom I would choose.

 All good brother. I was in your world on Monday and Tuesday at Cambridge Hospital so I can relate a bit. First time since I was 4 years old.
