Ball breaker game thread
Re: Ball breaker game thread
Great question, made a poll asking what the forum thinks.Juliooooo wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2019 8:40 pmSo Tom Murphy making the case that he should be an every day catcher. Do you keep them both, or do you trade one of them? Are there enough at bats for Murphy and Narvaez? Both are under team control for 3 years. Narvaez has a longer track record and a year younger. Is Murphy a better defender? I don't know. Murphy probably a little more power.
Then again, its good to have 2 catchers that can hit. and neither are breaking the bank.
If we have a minor league catcher that's going to be here in 2 years I may trade both. Narvaez will likely be Wellington Castillo who has a couple good years then falls off the planet.
That's just my guess. He won't stick at catcher long after his bat softens even a little.
I'd trade both except that I don't think Murphy has believable trade value quite yet, so might as well keep him as a steady hand in the transition.

Houston has to end up trading for EE. They have everything except a 1B.

EE has averaged about 150 games a season the past 5 years, Leake is on a 6 year streak with 30+ starts and this season was Le Blanc's first ever trip to the DL/IL so I wouldn't lose to much sleep on those three staying healthy for another few weeks.

The Orioles and Royals both losing today. It's going to be tough catching them. I guess we'll have to settle for #3 draft pick at best. ![Crying or Very Sad ](./images/smilies/icon_cry.gif)

I like him and Kirby and I know Williamson has upside but I can't get past that 4+ ERA in college. Imagine if we had drafted a hitter with a .250 BA and a .725 OPS in college.

Williamson is definitely more of a project. I wonder how much his injuries affected him this last year. He is still pretty skinny, and should be able to add some speed to his fastball if he can strengthen the lower body after the hip surgeries and gains some weight. Good news is he was able to pitch 77 innings after the surgery, so the hips shouldn't be much of a concern. The biggest concern is probably the control. He had 89 K in 77 ip, but walked 36. If he can get that number down, the ER should go down as well. Campbell does seem like the better prospect of the 2, other than Williamson being a lefty.
