You would think JS would want some full control at some point. Maybe is just wait for Pete to retire...

By the time Pete retires, Scott Servais will be looking for a job and they are both Packer fans. Match made in heaven.

I read Pete comment on it, basically...I run things during the season, I hand the keys to JS in the off season.
and there is this article...

and there is this article...
and from Pete"That's why they work so good together is because Pete may have the final say, but at the end of the day, he's going to trust John and know that [Schneider has] obviously ... done the legwork on guys when it comes to the draft and free agency," said Dan Morgan, who was Seattle's pro personnel director before becoming the Bills' director of player personnel in 2018. "It's just kind of throwing the egos to the side and trusting who you work with."
this is an interesting look at the relationship, if you haven't seen this"There have been a couple guys that we didn't see eye-to-eye on, but we saw eye-to-eye on the decision," Carroll said. "If we're going to make this decision, let's come together and find a way. You support me, I'll support you. Somebody has to give in somewhere and we did. We've done that. That's what's important. We never made a choice that we went [in opposite directions] because we didn't get together on it. That hasn't happened."

Re: Brandon Shell is terrible
Our old friend Ifedi and 1st Rd pick is finally grading out as a starter-level player 69,8 pff but at guard mind you
I really dont want to know how all the other available OT are performing
My guy Jason Peters has allowed 3 sacks and only a slightly better 65 pff
Shell only has 2 sacks but also 2 penalties to 0 for Peters

I really never understood the thought process that made us think Ifedi was a Tackle. As for the organizational chart, one is the VP of Football Operations, the other is the GM. Not sure I have been in many organizations were the GM was higher than the VP of Football Operations. Pete can tell a reporter what ever he wants, but why would you give at title to someone if it was meaningless?

Not sure what you are getting at, yeah Pete is in charge but he doesn't supersede JS because he trusts his judgment. That is pretty basic to a well run organization, trust the people you hire, don't micromanage, try and do their jobs for them
Re: Brandon Shell is terrible
I agree but I can't believe you gulp up everything PC says like its gospel. You have no clue what goes down behind the scenes. Of course he is going to say all the right things publically but he has blown so much smoke up our asses over the years we should all be able to fly intercontinentally without the aid of an airplane.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 3:18 pmNot sure what you are getting at, yeah Pete is in charge but he doesn't supersede JS because he trusts his judgment. He trusts his judgement, that doesn't mean the final decision doesn't lie with Pete. I don't imagine there are many VPs out there in the world that just turn over everything to the GM. Having input, being allowed to do your job? Sure, but the VP is in charge. That was the question, and I answered it.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 3:18 pmNot sure what you are getting at, yeah Pete is in charge but he doesn't supersede JS because he trusts his judgment. Most good executives have people around them they trust. Not micromanaging now means you aren't in charge?

I don't gulp it up, i report it...In terms of the relationship, I buy it, i think the results speak to it, as well as there not being anything ever reported to contradict it. Its a pretty remarkable relationship, very unique seems to me.D-train wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 3:25 pmI agree but I can't believe you gulp up everything PC says like its gospel. Re: Brandon Shell is terrible
He speaks to that right there, he doesn't overrule JS, they come to a consensus, is he lying?..Well the fact that JS has stayed with the Hawks in my mind speaks otherwise. If John was getting pushed around by Pete and being overruled i would think he would have found another team to run by now, at least been rumored to be in play someplace else, they been at this ten years nowMichael K. wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 3:29 pmHe trusts his judgement, that doesn't mean the final decision doesn't lie with Pete.
