Churchill wants money for his "inside information" ..... it's not worth it... There are wild penguins closer to the North Pole than he is to the Mendoza line when it comes to picking talent....

Let's go with any four of my six targets:

SP Taijuan Walker Sure
SP Chris Archer Bad in 2019 and injured in 2020 No thanks. End of the line for a former star.
CF Jackie Bradley Jr. Hell yeah but guessing he commands a multi year deal so could end up blocking Julio.
1B/DH Jake Lamb Nah. Had a good couple weeks with A's but hasn't been good since 2017. Poor man's and old man's France.
RP Trevor May Seems like a dime a dozen early 30s BP arm. Don't get the appeal.
RP Keone Kela Is he healthy, if so sure. Young and has been a very good reliever for several season.

Or not. :)

I will give you Walker, Bradley and Kela so you will have to settle for 3. :)

I had similar reservations about Chris Archer until I read Kate Preusser's piece at Lookout Landing:

https://www.lookoutlanding.com/2020/10/ ... ris-archer

Lookout Landing on Trevor May:

Jake Lamb would strictly platoon with Evan White and Ty France.

Classic Lookout landing piece on May. Reminds me when they did a huge piece on the Patrick Wisdom signing because they thought it was really really neato that he was pals with Marco.

Here is their rationale for May:
For starters, May is a native of Longview, Washington. He attended Kelso High School where he was selected in the 4th round of the 2008 MLB Draft. May, 31, has long worn his Mariners fandom on his sleeve. After pitching in a game at T-Mobile Park in 2019, he met Ken Griffey Jr.
His 3.56 FIP and 140 ERA+ support the notion he’s been very, very good. May averages 3.0 BB/9, and while that’s not sensational by any means, it would rank better than just about every Mariners reliever from 2020.
A 3.56 FIP for a reliever is not very very good. Its mid pack. And ranking better than JUST ABOUT every other reliever in the 2020 M's pen which they just slammed as historically bad is not something to get excited about.

If they wasted $15M on this guy as they suggest I will puke.

If they use Lamb to platoon with White then we just committed 6 years to a kid that will play twice a week on average.
