man are you dense. His OPS was 1.323 after 10 games and has taken a catastrophic dive to .733. It dropped to .802 in the first month after his hot start, playing regularly.

On the fangraphs 2B leaderboards, Dee Gordon's OPS ranks him 34th among 2B with 150PA or more.

Beckham would be 22nd.

And, imo, he would hit much better playing regularly, like most players.

Too bad your opinion doesn't match reality. He got off to a hot start, then stunk it up after that, while playing regularly. Yeah, Dee Gordon may not be all world, but Beckham stinks too and his defense is atrocious (although Gordon has struggled tonight).

But OPS is the only stat that means anything at all, so thats all we have to look at

Well it's about as good of an all inclusive offensive stat as there is. If Dee was still a good base stealer he may still have value.

For the price, Beckham is the best 2B we have.

I've never been a big Dee Gordon fan, but acting like Beckham is better is laughable. With our pitching staff though, I'll take the better defense over the marginally better hitter.

And who cares about price, they are both on the team and getting paid regardless of who is playing. I hope neither are on the team next year.

That's the difference, at, what, $1.5Million, Beckham is a steal. And he's here again next season as an arb player unless he gets DFA'd.

I don't think Beckham is a steal at 1.5 million. I'd rather have Long play 2B every day next year to learn than keep Beckham around. Let Walton/Mariscal/Moore/Lopes/Negron etc... get a shot at utility. Long should be 2B every day imo.
