Curious if you guys that went with Young and Donovan think Jerry is blowing smoke about given Colt "Runway" or you don't think Colt will have a good Spring?

I mean, I think with Colt being a consensus Top 10 prospect in the nation, and as much as they rave about him, let's at least look and find out. Thats what Donovan is here for am I right? To give them runway in case things go south. No prospect is a sure thing, none. Julio and Cal were great! Kelenic was not. If Emerson goes out this Spring and puts on a clinic like say a Bobby Witt Jr. would, then heck yeah, put him in the Opening Day lineup!

That is exactly what Jerry said he is going to do so why are people thinking he will start in AAA. Bad Spring for Colt or Jerry is lying?

Exactly. And I would be surprised if he doesn't hit ST pitching which is basically AAAA pitching at best.

I had a quote from Hollander from the other day on how they aren't concerned about spring training numbers. I don't think Emerson needs to put on clinic to win a job. At this point I think it's basically going to be a disappointment if he's not on the roster going into the season. I'd say it's Emerson at 3rd and Donovan at 2nd going into spring training. It's Young's stock that's down at this point.

Every year when we go into the spring training initial meeting with the staff, I put in like a warning out to everyone that this environment will fool you every year. Somebody will hit 1.000 and someone will hit .000 and it doesn't mean anything once we get out here (at T-Mobile Park). ... Definitely not gonna focus on the statistical performance. ... (For) position players, how do they look physically? How are they moving? All that stuff are things we're focused on."

Yep that is precisely my sense as well.

If Young was thrown back into the prospect rankings he wouldn't even be in the top 100. Colt is top 10. As most know I was down on him prior to this season because of lack of power but seems he found it last season.

trading Williamson is a vote of confidence in Emerson isn't it, how else can you look at it? If they have to play Donovan at 3rd basically as a replacement for Williamson how would that look?

Just thinking out loud but how special would it be to hit the trifecta: 1. Donovan plays to his potential. 2. At some point in the season Emerson does the same and 3. Laz comes up in September and seizes the DH.

Praying Laz makes the necessary adjustment this season when he repeats AA. He would be in RF not DH.
