You are spot on - and I suppose nothing matters in the world at all - we all die eventually. You only live once so try and enjoy it a bit more.

Well that's the thing, if you're all bent out of shape cuz the GM isn't spending more money, then you got problems.

Sports is a losing proposition from the jump. 29 teams will not win the WS, and for the team that does win, they get to reign on top for a couple months and then it's a new season and everyone focuses on that one. It's really not worth getting all worked up over. But, it's a good thing that people do, because it would be kind of boring to watch with a stadium full of indifferent observers.

That's the problem really. It's not just that they need to spend more. They really don't.

The problem is Dipoto wastes about $30M annually on absolute bums. They need to spend it better.

And then he gets exactly the same kind of bums next year because he thinks the outcome should have been different.

Ownership is content with sustained mediocrity.

It seems like a lot of us have pretty much thrown in the towel on these losers.

I don't think Dipoto's capable of putting together a World Series winner. I was happy I signed up for the monthly MarinersTV package because I only wasted $19.99 before canceling because the product is so boring.

Fans keep showing up so they have no incentive to do anything more.

Again I say how a team like the Brewers can have the 2nd best record in baseball despite having a much lower payroll than us also despite the fact they don't have any major superstars outside of young Miz. So, I was living in Houston when they were winning like crazy, and they still had all the gimmicky promotions. So, you're gonna have those regardless, lol.

The Mariners had a 3-2 lead in the ALCS last year. It's kind of a flukey game.

The way to win without spending money is to do the rebuilding cycle thing. Sell everything, then you get a bunch of young players under club control. Baseball doesn't have a salary cap, but they have the 6 years of club control before FA, and then you can typically sign guys to early extensions to get another 2-3 years before they go the Yankees and Dodgers.

I have watched very little so far this year. Seems like there have been a lot of close losses, blown saves, etc. I still think they're a decent team based on what little info I have. Rotation seems pretty good, especially Kirby and Miller. It's also my understanding that the farm is high rated, so probably gonna have the ability to work another deadline deal if Dipoto wants to.

There's also just the simple fact that there are a LOT of games left. Cal hit 50 homers last year, so he's got it in him. We all know Julio can get hot second half also. Glass half full vs glass half empty.... it's not a good season because of last season, but compared to all of franchise history this is still one of the better positions they've been in at this point in the season.

Hopefully Dipoto will work a deadline deal, cuz while I'm trying to play the positive side here, I have been following the team since Alvin Davis and Jim Presley, so yeah.... it's been a long wait and it was indeed fun last year.

There's nothing quite like the first championship for an organization. And for the Ms still looking for that first WS appearance. I would love to see it. But, I'm not in despair yet. Just need to make the post season and then get hot vs Rays or Yankees.
