I saw that too. I wonder what meant exactly by that statement?

Seattle will regret not drafting this guy at #59 instead of Williamson. I get why they did it, to put them in a better position for a prepster in the later rds, but damnit all to hell, Josh Smith is gonna be a good one.

Wow - a fifteen page draft thread! If that doesn't say it all about the state of the franchise... :(

We are in the 6th slot right now, and ever so close to "rising" up to the 5th! You see what I did there. Lol

Sign me up for the next "Bryce Harper" baseball phenom "BLAZE JORDAN!" Yeah baby!!!!!! Though he's not supposed to come out until 2021.

Apparently Blaze reclassified to 2020

There's also ASU's Spencer Torkelson, a 1b who is tearing up the NCAA over first two college seasons

A glib comment for the basic Ms fan that they know Johns won't challenge. I mean my follow up question would be "Are you seriously suggesting that you got one over the other 19 teams because you have access to a metric every baseball fan has access to and that no one else spotted it?" But no place for tricky questions here

Not too sure about Williamson at #2, i feel like we could have grabbed him later. Campbell seems like a good pickup, even if he ends up a reliever. The thing that scares me is this was seen as the worst pitching class maybe ever, so what do we do? Draft 3 pitchers lol. Hoping today we grab some position players

George Kirby, Brandon Williamson, and Isiah Campbell. PITCHING, PITCHING and more PITCHING!!!!

Ice, Campbell is you're high risk high reward guy it sounds like.

He was selected last year in the 24th round, but he entered 2019 as a popular breakout pick. The righty was sidelined for most of 2017 with bone spurs and then came back last spring and struggled to put it together consistently, showing some flashes but never on a regular basis. He’s come back this year with some new tools that have allowed him to rise as a likely Day One selection.

Campbell is ranked as the number 47 draft prospect on Baseball America’s top 500 draft prospects list, and according to them the big change for him this year has been the addition of a slider to his pitch mix. In the past, he threw more of a slow, looping curveball that wasn’t a very consistently effective offering. So, he ditched that and has turned to a harder, sharper breaking ball that has worked extremely well. He pairs that with a fastball that can get up to 95 mph and is his best pitch, as well as a changeup that is getting better and has the potential to be above-average if everything goes well.

Campbell fits in the Red Sox mold in that there’s a chance he ends up as a reliever. He’s a big righty with an effective fastball/slider combination that could potentially play up in shorter stints. That said, he’s a big kid — listed at 6’4” 225 pounds — that has the body to hold up through the rigors of a professional season. With the improvement of his changeup and especially with his command this season, there is growing belief that he has the potential to stay as a starter. Some other targets in this range are almost certainly going to be relievers eventually, whereas it’s more of a toss-up with Campbell, and some are leaning more towards a future in a rotation being morelikely than not.

It sounds good as long as he doesn't wind up as a reliever.
If he makes the MLB it's a good pick, starter or reliever.
Boy that's a slippery slope. Josh Fields, for example.

Can't upload it but our Scouting Director saying that no one else spotted Kirby's walk to so ratio is just cringeworthy.
Unbelievabe. They divide K's by BBs and act like they discovered a special type of plutonium that cures Cancer and ED.

“It kind of punches you in the face when you look at it,” Mariners scouting director Scott Hunter said of Kirby’s numbers. “You actually have to ask if it’s real. With all our technology and analysis and different video stuff, it is. I don’t think anybody in the country even sniffed his strikeout to walk rate. Obviously it’s something we do here and we value. He fit in perfectly.”
He has to mean that no other pitcher came close to his K/BB rate, right????????? Please tell me that is the case.

By grabbing Willismson at 2, they're able to go under slot at #2 and #3 to Campbell to save more money for the prepsters in the next coming rounds, but they better hurry up too. Thats not me saying that either, it's just the facts, they're running out of time and pick #90 would be a great spot to get one. This is a common tactic used in MLB drafting. You try and get as many bodies as you can to hit on. So far I love the M's draft, so long as they find that youngster who is willing to sign and forgo his commitment. Add in the fact that you can never have TOO much pitching and this is a Win-win for me!
