If spending on a FA first baseman isn’t spending, then be prepared to be disappointed in what they do.
It's not a question of being dissapointed, I don't have expectations to begin with. I am happy they signed Naylor but I'm not particularly impressed by it. It's what the needed to do and they did it, similar to needing to sign Castillo, they got it done. Now if they would truly get out of their comfort zone by say trading for Katel Marte or signing Kyle schwarber then I'd be impressed. For dipoto to claim that signing was getting out of their comfort zone is comical. The dodgers spent nearly that much on a reliever for Christ's sake. Reminds me of the 60ies crack... Been down so long it looks like up to me ...
I totally agree that signing a first baseman to a free agent contract shouldn't be out of their comfort zone that is preposterous
But.... 2026...... "the crest"....

Payroll still isn't any higher than usual, but this year was supposedly what Dipoto was worried about the last 3 or 4 years when he avoided the free agents we needed.

He's such a sheister.

Freddy Peralta would be an awesome pick up if he's actually available.

They should trade for Freddy Peralta and Ketel Marte.

Then take a chance on Yoan Moncada for 3B. His numbers were pretty decent when he was on the field. We have backups.
Then are you trading Miller for marte since he would then be expendable after picking up Peralta?

It didn't really cross my mind. He can sit in AAA, hasn't earned a spot anyways.

I think Castillo's on the way down so I'd probably try and trade him for some bounceback prospect and a reliever if you can find a taker.

Miller was lights out in 2024, struggled in 2025 with all those injuries but was lights out again in the playoffs. I think he would be wasted in AAA.
