I agree - am ready to move on from Kirby and Gilbert. I will say though that this has been a really down year for them - had Dip gone in at the deadline the last year or two they might have been better. However this offseason they are serving up so many meat pitches its absurd. I'm surprised Dan went with Kirby instead of Castillo. If he starts it again tomorrow I want to see Dan go out to the mound like Lou and just lose it on him and be like WTF ARE DOING!!!! lol...Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Mon Oct 20, 2025 5:02 amThese playoffs have really driven home what a load of drivel we've been fed the past 3-4 years about how great this pitching staff is, and in particular the two darlings Kirby and Gilbert, who have been above average but nothing close to deserving all the accolades thrown at them by the local press. Just looking at their road splits over the years tells the story. Bryan Woo is the closest thing to an ace the Mariners have had since Felix and the rest of them are completely unreliable.

If runners start to get on or a homer ya get the pen going. Woo or Castillo.

LOL I thought it was just a brain cramp the first time but you really call the post season the off season. Wild. We always complain about them swinging away, all the strikeouts, then they make contact three times and it results in six outs! Twice with the bases juiced. I told my son that how in the Hell is THIS the time we don't hit a warning track fly ball by launch angle swinging from our asses? Seemed like bad luck more than anything else.Millikin wrote: ↑Mon Oct 20, 2025 6:11 am
That's true. I was actually thinking that about YeOldSavage, that the difference between his great statline today and one he'd have nightmares for life was if those balls slipped through the infield, or if the couple warning track shots had gotten out.
The Mariners were making enough contact to potentially win, but didn't have the luck.
Because.... That's baseball!

And worse, it was the first time ever in MLB postseason history that a team had ever hit into double plays in back-to-back innings with the bases loaded AND hit into double plays three innings in a row.Michael K. wrote: ↑Mon Oct 20, 2025 2:50 pmWe always complain about them swinging away, all the strikeouts, then they make contact three times and it results in six outs! I also think that three errors in a game is the most we've had all year. That was the perfect storm of ugly last night.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 20, 2025 5:07 pmAnd worse, it was the first time ever in MLB postseason history that a team had ever hit into double plays in back-to-back innings with the bases loaded AND hit into double plays three innings in a row.

Plus Rivas crushing one and it hits the top of the wall resulting in two runs that we didn't score. All of this HAD to happen last night instead of in a random game in June? And it can't happen two games in a row...right?Michael K. wrote: ↑Mon Oct 20, 2025 5:21 pmI also think that three errors in a game is the most we've had all year. Forgot about that, and the odd baserunning by JP. How can you only get to second on a ball off the wall? Even if it's caught....you will have time to get back to the bag. He either was just assuming it was gone, or assumed that since it was Rivas hitting? He didn't get enough of it. Just another time where it really looked like the pressure of the entire situation was getting to them. Toronto played looser, or at least it seemed that way. Gonna need some life tonight.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 20, 2025 5:28 pmPlus Rivas crushing one and it hits the top of the wall resulting in two runs that we didn't score.
