Smart move. Sorry kid who has never been above AA.
You're missing the point. No exec should openly talk about it. The ball is squarely in all of our prospects court now

What did he say about Kelenic specifically? He said that they want him to have more minor league at bats. That's it.
He said there was zero way Kelenic would debut last year or early this year because they wanna preserve his service time
He said that about Kelenic specifically? My understanding is he was talking about the prospects that were on the Taxi squad that would have never been in Seattle in 2020. They were never going to bring up Marte, Julio, Hancock, DeLoach, etc...
Kelenic and Gilbert were on the taxi squad and the 2 specifics he talked about for this season

what was Mathers doing?...he was giving an insiders view of the club to a very exclusive segment of fans. Those were not yokels, those fans could have connections all the way to the owners. That is how he wanted to represent the club to them, and if it hadn't hit the press I doubt Mariners would have had a problem with it, that is who the Mariners are. It will be interesting them trying to distance themselves from it
Yeah did you see how giddy that one Rotary guy was when told about Marco pushing Leake up against a wall telling him not to be a dick. It was like he was a 12 year kid that just found a PlayBoy mag in the 1970s. He was totally getting off on his insider access. Crazy thing was an older woman had asked a question earlier and Mathers still used the phrase "Don't be a dick" And this is a guy with sexual harassment charges in his background. I could not believe it.

I don't think anything he said will make any difference. We'll see I guess.

Kelenic still has to prove he's the best option. Good luck with that. Their best alternative is to simply make it a moot point by getting a LF that should actually be in MLB, not a 21 year old kid with a partial AA season under his belt.

Yeah, but when he said that players would never play in Seattle on 2020, it was clear he was talking about the guys who weren't close, but they still brought up to the Taxi squad
The poster formerly known as Kingfelixk. With a new forum comes a new boardname. Julio is my guy, plus we share a birthday, so that's Culiooooo

Yeah everybody was already fully aware of the service time manipulation. Business as usual there. And given JKs age and lack of PAs there is no way he would be able to say that he should have been on the team last season.

the financial stuff he admitted to really is fascinating. Does Kelenic file a grievance if he feels his promotion is delayed and use Mather's comments as evidence?
What the Mariners are doing with Kelenic is the industry standard.

What they did with White was the exception.

Tough shit for Kelenic. Mather said nothing wrong about him imo.
So what was he apologizing for then exactly?

I think he probably knows his intentions but seeing the way its being blown out of proportion he clearly believes how people are interpreting what he said is the only thing that matters.

I don't doubt he'll be fired. It was stupid.
