I like the Miami trade idea. Is the value realistic? I don't think any team sees Michael Arroyo as a middle infielder.

If Otto is made available, I would imagine the Yankees will get involved.
The Yankees get involved and move who? They have George Lombard at SS. Of their top 15 prospects 13 are pitchers with one middle infielder who is in A ball.

Why does Arroyo need to be a middle infield prospect to move in this deal?

The Marlins have his replacement in Aiva Arquette
My point on Arroyo is that his lack of position probably limits his value. His defensive upside is a left fielder that might be adequate out there if he applies himself.

As for the Yankees, Jazz is a free agent and McMahon isn't very good, so Otto could slot into either position or even shortstop if they don't like Lombard there. But if they got him, they would have Lopez, Lombard, and Caballero all in hand and could slot them positionally as they see fit.

Who would they trade for him? Their farm is void of position players and is now consensus bottom 5 in baseball.

The Marlins are relatively loaded with young pitching and that’s all the Yankees farm has.

Only chip they have for Lopez is Lombard.

That's a fair point. Maybe I'm just scared of the big bad Yankees.

If this team was serious about making the biggest blockbuster in the history of the franchise for one of the games elite young players I'd start with a package like this:

1. Kirby or Woo; SP

2. Cole Young, infielder

3. Emerson, infielder

4. Canzone, Outfielder

5. Raley, RF/1B

6. Felnin Celestin

7. Luke Stevenson

That's what 4 major league ready players (Young, Canzone, Raley, Kirby), & a top 50 prospect in Celestin & whatever you consider Emerson. Is that too much, not enough. You can easily slot Arroyo & Montes at this point. How do you pass that deal up. That's basically 3 infielders, 2 outfielders & a starter. Again I don't know if that seems like a massive overpay but one I would be willing to accept. Then look at it this way. They could rotate both Arroyo & Donovan between LF, 2B, & 3B. I know it seems pretty wild but I highly doubt even Cincy would pass up this kind of offer. Boston doesn't have our kind of depth to make that kind of deal. If they want an overpay we'll give them an overpay.

Catcher - Cal

1B - Naylor

2B - Arroyo

SS - De La Cruz

3B - Donovan

LF - Smith

CF - Julio

RF - Montes

Jerry mentioned nothing about the roster in terms of that being the issue just that they need to change the culture so kind of doubt they are going to do a 7 for 1 trade. lol

Arozerena is a bat but I think they move on from him do to attitude reportly and defense. One article states they got away from things such as defense and that attributed to poor pitching results. iMO

He could be the son of the pope and mother Theresa and prime Ken Griffey Jr. defensively and they would still not try to resign him. He is the #1 position player on the market and will go to the highest bidder which is never us because of sUStaInAbILiTy.

Stanton literally said verbatim that don't sign FAs in their 30s to long term deals....I am actually fine with it this time. Not a fan of him.

1. It would be nice to keep Arozarena and that money might work, but he's likely gone. A better organization will outbid us or just be a better organization.

2. IKF is indeed a great defender, but his bat in Seattle would probably be awful. Still, not a bad guy to have.

3. Estevez might be good on a flyer, but you also have to go get someone else who's proven AND healthy for the bullpen.

4. Lopez would be sufficient here, although the organization is probably committed to Emerson at SS. They've painted themselves into a corner with his contract.

5. Rodden sucks. Martin sucks.

How about this:

1. Sign Seiya Suzuki
2. Sign Teruaki Soto
3. Sign IKF
4. Trade Kirby (who has regressed just about every year and has to go) in an effort to get a good bat (even if a prospect) and a solid bullpen arm
