I wonder if the most ardent gun rights supporters will defend Hunter Biden. Keeping guns out of the hands of drug users is one of the "sensible" limits on the 2nd amendment that I support. But will the NRA and its supporters?

The law is the law. We may bitch and moan about the wonky laws that hammer those who are law abiding citizens, but they are the law. It's like abortion. In one case, the Constitution states there are to be no restrictions while the other isn't even in the Constitution. We can scream and throw tantrums but the laws are there and we usually obey them.

"Sensible limits?" How many people in the country are wounded or killed by an "AR" style rifle? How many are killed or wounded by hand guns? Then too, how many of each are illegal weapons (i.e., stolen) and in the hands of criminals and felons? Finally, how many of those criminals and felons who utilize illegal weapons are placed in prison so they cannot harm others? Ask your local DA's that question. You won't get a straight answer.

Really good questions, and I don't know. But these *are* empirical questions and there should be numbers that people agree on, don't you think?

I agree about the law. I'm in favor of a system that pursue charges against people suspected of breaking laws, and then of course, presumes innocence until proven guilty and provides a fair and speedy trial.

Of course, you should be free to manufacture and sell weapons or drugs. It's called natural law. Objective morality. The aggressor is the state claiming to have the authority to tell you what goods and services you can trade, who you can trade with, how much tax to pay them when you do it, what time of day you can do it, where you can do it, what licenses you need. All of those so-called "laws" are both illegitimate and immoral.

There is no contract unless both parties agree. You can't force people into contracts. You can't delegate to a "representative" a right that you don't have yourself. You don't have the right to steal money from your neighbor, so neither does the "government". All taxation is theft.

Those indoctrinated into the religion of the democracy flavor of statism will say that if you want to change the laws you must vote in new leaders. Are you absolutely kidding me? This is not a bottom-up system. It's a top down system. All systems will ultimately be top-down. People will obtain power, market share, etc. But, the last thing you want to give those people is a legion of flag-worshipping zombies willing to enforce their every whim based on a mythological belief that they have legitimate authority based on the Santa Claus, pie-in-the-sky concept of a benevolent "government" that will help the people.

Agreed, sounds more like they gave Hunter a way that he can avoid answering questions when he's called to testify before Congress.

We'll hear something like, "I can't answer that due to a pending legal case."

But what makes this worm such a unique pussy is that he has to cry outside the Capitol and cloak himself in the American flag while saying he would only testify in a public hearing, not a full-on closed door real-deal deposition.

And then fall on his sword and say MAGA is trying to kill him to cause his dear old daddy irreparable emotional and political harm.
