And thats why I don't compare players. I'm just saying that some players are going to struggle in their first exposure to MLB, and it doesn't mean they won't figure it out. Trammell may be 23, but he missed a year of development last year. He was asked to jump to the MLB level when he just figured out the AA level then missed a full year. Haniger hit .239 with a .713 OPS in his first 100 AB in MLB at 25. He must have not turned in to a very good baseball player.

There are plenty of examples of guys that struggled in their early to mid 20s that went on to great careers so I was just pointing out that using ridiculously rushed teenagers wasn't the best example to use.

It doesn't matter to me if they are teenagers or 28 year olds. Jumping to the MLB is tough for most players and there is typically a learning curve. That is my point. Yeah, there are probably much better examples, but to me it isn't about the age, so I listed a few I could think of off the top of my head. I'm not trying to find comparable players, I'm just saying that we need to wait and see with Trammell.

One thing I try to not do is get too high or low on any player, especially over a small sample size. Except for Julio. I'm definitely too low on him. I'm not ready to crown him more than a 5 time MVP just yet

By the way, Trammell already hit a HR in Tacoma. 3 run shot in the first. His 4th HR in 5 games.

Look at our bums and tell me how bad that really is. Nobody's asking for world beaters. But they need to show something.Juliooooo wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 12:17 amAnd thats why I don't compare players. You are completely missing the point, but whatever...bpj wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 1:10 amLook at our bums and tell me how bad that really is. Nobody's asking for world beaters. It's easy to miss the point when you're trying to make your point with players that don't really apply.Juliooooo wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 1:20 amYou are completely missing the point, but whatever...bpj wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 1:10 amLook at our bums and tell me how bad that really is. I would've been happy with Trammell at a .713 OPS instead of .593.
I'd even be happy with Evan White at .713...
Re: Slug her, Mug her, Bugger, Fugger~DUGGER do Indian game thread
Whiffed as bad as Evan White with 2 strikes in the point yet again.
I don't care who you look at. Most players struggle to adapt to MLB. That doesn't mean they can't figure it out later. There isn't a certain OPS you need to have, or an age you need to be for that to be the case. Trammell want ready for the MLB. Will he be later? I don't know.

You're naming off the very few late bloomers and acting like it's the norm.Juliooooo wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 12:48 amIt doesn't matter to me if they are teenagers or 28 year olds. Jose Bautista was another. Great, it happens.
