Disliking Ichiro does not make one a racist, but being enamored of hitters who keep the bat on their shoulders in the hopes of drawing a walk while dismissing the best singles hitter of the last hundred years makes me question your judgement. No kid ever ran the old “two outs, bottom of the ninth in the 7th game of the World Series” scenario in his head and ended with “And he draws a walk! The crowd goes wild!” Just saying...

What I'm saying is I dont want either walks or singles to be the expected outcome for any of my power hitting positions.

You want to walk or single all the time then you better not play a power position little fella.

In one of the letters to the editor today, one guy wrote that "Ichiro is simply the best baseball baseball player I have ever seen. Full stop."

It is that type of ignorant, irrational fan boy nonsense that I have have an issue with. Not one of the best. THE best he has ever seen. Ichiro isn't even the best Mariner I have seen play.

Oh and another guy felt compelled to write in support of Antifa's presence at Sounder games. This city is such an embarrassment.

81% of his 3K hits were singels, career wRC+ of 104 and OPS+ of 107. Overrated

Ichiro was purposely a slap hitter. Even though he was right-handed, he learned to bat left just to get to first faster. Singles were all he wanted. If he wanted any power, he would have been a switch hitter.
