That's my point it isn't going to impact anything, it really doesn't matter who the opening day starter was, unless they were going to decide to make him the fifth starter before the season started. Don't over think this stuffSibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2026 3:46 amGee no kidding? Just seems like a poor assessment by Jerry of who deserved the opening game start. Will it matter much in the end? Well only if they miss the playoffs by one or two games.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2026 3:28 amI think your top three starters are all going to make about the same amount of starts over a season.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2026 3:24 amGood to know Blogan Gilbert is in line to get the most starts of any M pitcher this year. True ace of the rotation.![]()

Bright spots :
Wilcox was good
Julio didn't strike out
Legume mopped up like a pro
Young/Donovan still hitting
Max Fried... Makes lineups look bad for a living, and he's great at his job.

If Refsnyder doesn't work out... it's a good thing they signed Patrick Wisdom.
4 HR's already in Tacoma.

The thing about setting up the rotation, you're pitting your number one against the oppositions. And that seems to hold up during a season. I don't really know if that's important or not but Gilbert is going to be going up against the other best pitchers. He doesn't get more starts but he gets the toughest opposition

Refsnyder is this year's Mastrobuoni/Urias/Pollock/Frazier. Just an inconsequential bat.

He doesn't have Mastrobuoni's defensive value

What was the purpose of signing him, was it just to occasionally fill in at DH and pinch hit?

Yeah, from the right side of the plate. He was signed because since 2022 he's probably been the best hitter in baseball against left handed hitting. He's been an elite specialist. Maybe he will crater who knows. But I thought dipoto being willing to spend $6 MIL for a specialized piece like that showed a commitment to making the playoffs again. I liked the signingSibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2026 5:46 amWhat was the purpose of signing him, was it just to occasionally fill in at DH and pinch hit?
Since 2022
3rd in MLB for OBP against lefties (.407), 6th in Average (.312), and 7th in OPS (.924) [min. 400 PA]
