Re: New OC thread
Here's another why the Seahawks fired Grubb article, this one ESPN. Points out the same thing I did, the Seahawks were at the tail end of the hiring cycle due to it taking so long to hire MM, Grubb was what was left on the shelf. Says here MM had misgivings about the hire due to how pass oriented Grubb is. Grub was expected to adjsat but he was considered stubborn, there were issues with him and MM. Kinda begs the question why did Grubb take the job, he had just gotten hired at Alabama. The NFL was too tempting.
The important thing is they get it right this time. MM has every right to have guys on his staff he feels comfortable with. But if they screw it up again there will be doubts to with his ability to manage a staff

Didn’t say he didn’t have the right. But I sure can’t wait for the next yes man puppet. We all loved watching this offenses so much.
Mark Schleredt one time said this about Russell Wilson late in his first year at Denver. “I hope when Russ looks back on this year he realized how many people he cost jobs”. Grubb was hired by a guy to do a job, a job he has ALWAYS done a certain way…and then fired for doing it. And what’s worse is we were a few strength of victory points from making the playoffs, with a dogshit O Line, a backup RB and a mediocre QB. Not sure what was expected.
Another my way or the highway defensive minded coach. Those guys are winning so many playoff games lately, I can see why JS likes that approach.

I would think with a football team it would be my way or the highway terms of the head coach. I would think everyone would need to be pointed in the same direction, not a lot of room for do your own thing.
The Ravens, Bills, Commanders aren't doing so bad are they

https://www.seasidejoe.com/p/nfl-defens ... s-playoffsDefensive-minded head coaches have the most wins in 6 of 8 divisions and both exceptions led by “offensive-minded” coaches have a strong argument for actually being defensive-minded teams.

Re: New OC thread
Which one of these does not belong.
Lamar
Josh
Jaydin
Geno
The three you mention also didn't just first their fourth OC in nine years, as I recall.
You have blind faith. I've seen enough from JS over the past few years to start having serious doubts he's the guy to get us over the hump. Saddling a pass first OC with what Grubb had this year then shit canning him in a year doesn't make it any easier for me to buy in.

You seemed to take a shot at defensive minded coaches winning in the playoffs. Those are defensive minded coaches winning in the playoffs aren't they?
I don't think it's particularly blind I've criticized JS, particularly in terms of Pete taking the blame for everything. Grubb was simply the wrong guy, I don't have a problem with MM dealing with it. I think it shows he's in charge, he has an idea of what he wants, his vision, I like that. The issue is now finding the right guy. You're drawing conclusions with what MM has in mind. I think we should wait and see see what it looks like. Give him a chance to get it right.. Re: New OC thread
Again, of you are a bright offensive play caller, are coming here to take the OC job? 4 OCs in 9 years and the last one is dealt this hand and scapegoated for it?
John Schneider might be the worst GM when it comes to building an O Line, yet somehow? He continues to work while he fires OCs for being able to mask his deficiencies. I'm tired of the same old excuses. The guy has done a shit job of building a Line, yet is the only one that never pays for it.
Sorry, the next OC will be no different than the last one, and I've been saying that for years. I just always blamed Carroll.

Re: New OC thread
Pete had his issues but they were coaching issues not GM issues. I was pretty confident Pete handled the coaching and JC handled the gming.
They don't seem to be having Issues attracting candidates. 4 OCs in 9 years doesn't sound that bad. Firing Grubb isn't going to scare candidates away. I really don't see anything abnormal, coaches are hired and fired all the time, nature of the business

https://www.the33rdteam.com/study-what- ... ordinator/A whopping 84.8% of OCs have had a tenure of three years or less, while just under 5% make it to their sixth year with a team.Peb

Re: New OC thread
Three years, as compared to having our O Line, a passing attack that was a few yards a game out of the top five, and Geno at QB, and getting axed in one season? Yeah, same thing.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 3:12 amPete had his issues but they were coaching issues not GM issues. I was pretty confident Pete handled the coaching and JC handled the gming.

I said this a few years ago about the Mariners and was laughed at, and now? Guys like Santana take less money to go elsewhere! There are too many opportunities to go work in this environment. We’ll get a yes man, and this place will bitch constantly about it,

Yeah, because he wasn't the right guy, cherry pick to your hearts content, it doesn't make him a good fit. Nobody out there gives a crap about Grubb getting canned, that's not the issue. The issue is finding a guy that actually can mesh with a NFL system and get an offense humming. They canned Grubb, now go get someone better, it's called competition, That's the responsibility of MM and JS, if they can't do that then their asses are on the line, that's how it works. Honestly, why you are so hung up on Grubb is a mystery to me.
