Hopefully 80% of next year's draft picks won't be injured by the end of training camp. That would be nice. :?

They should move forward as though Dissly's career is over. When a player that young has two severe non-contact injuries in two seasons that is a pretty good indicator that he's carrying too much weight to hold up to the rigors of running and cutting.
You mean like Carson?

I think they had a decent idea by draft day of the chances that Carson would make a full recovery, but sure the situations are fairly similar. I had no problem with them addressing the RB situation that off-season. That said, I wouldn't advocate using a 1st round pick on a tight end or a running back unless they are a generational talent.

Carson had had multiple injuries in college and with Hawks. He's constant now. No reason to think Dissly can't do the same. And no they didn't have and idea of Carson's recovery, hence ( much to Michael K's dismay) the drafting of Penny with the 1st round pick.

Carson's injury in 2017 was the result of getting rolled up on by a D-lineman. Dissly's injuries have been the result of running and cutting on a field. Do you get the difference there?

isn't there as great a likelihood of Carson getting rolled again by a defensive lineman as Dissly popping his Achilles again?

Not at all. At this point, you almost have to assume that Dissly's body will give out at some point during the season, most likely before the halfway mark. The injury Carson suffered was a freak incident that would be unlikely to happen again for the remainder of his career.

what are you basing that on?...To me a popped Achilles is extremely freakish. I think the issue is more their ability to recover than worrying about another injury. They do not seem as nearly common as they once were, and I think the recovery has a better prognosis. Like Bob Rule, was never the same player as he was before he popped his, but there wasn't an issue of it keep happening

Ruptured Achilles is an old man injury. When a guy like Dissly has it happen that's a huge red flag warning that should tell us something about his athletic limitations.
