Re: Tankathon is on!
That "Love Boat" opening had me cracked up! Most of the men on the show were fucking Dweebs... but I didn't remember Elke Sommer being on the program... she was stunning... the rest of it, the crew introductions with their smiling faces almost put me on the floor laughing.... reminded me of the intro of the crew at the end of Galaxy Quest....
Anyway, don't see what all the concern about the Pirates winning the number one and getting Rocker, the next "Gerritt Cole". They got the last Gerrit Cole, didn't they? And look what it got them.. Joe Musgrove, Michael Feliz, Colin Moran and Jason Martin.[44]. And the Pirates are now the worst team in baseball.
They did much better with high school outfielder Andrew McCutcheon. He was a franchise changer... Drafted him out of high school, he spent 3+ seasons in the minors, came up and gave them nine years... he wanted to be a Pirate for his entire career but the Pirates did end up trading him. And the Pirates had some pretty good years with Andrew, the best teams they had had since the days of Willie Stargell.

Stubing was just adjusting the focus on his binoculars. He's going up on the bridge to survey the camel toes around the pool.
Check out Ted Lange (your "Love Boat" bartender with his two fingered "gotcha" smile... absolute cheese, cracks me up.
I could only find this in German but it doesn't matter.... this is triple cheese... the end of Galaxy Quest... check the new crew member at the end with his one fingered "gotcha" smile. I almost died, literally, laughing when I first saw it.... could not breathe....this whole movie script was so bad, it was absolutely brilliant...

Did I miss a thread on this topic? How does the dismantling of the scouting department impact future drafts?
1. It looks like we no longer have much presence in the Caribbean/S. America.
2. JD said we will use more video rather than in person scouting.
Thoughts?

Maybe we should start a business. Going all over the world taking video of prospects and selling it to MLB teams??? Sounds fun and lucrative?Freespeech wrote: ↑Sun Aug 09, 2020 3:19 pmDid I miss a thread on this topic? How does the dismantling of the scouting department impact future drafts?

Re: Tankathon is on!
No joke. I would think that videos of college players would be pretty easy. JD mentioned they would be using more statistical analysis of prospects so the challenge would be a certain standardization of inputs including velocities and other measurements. Seems like high schoolers would be a bit more of a crap shoot but certainly some of the more well heeled districts could follow a standardized protocol.D-train wrote: ↑Sun Aug 09, 2020 3:48 pmMaybe we should start a business. I dunno, interesting. A brave new world.

My favorite scene in Moneyball is when the scout says a prospect isn't going to pan out because his girlfriend is only a 6. lol End of an era.Freespeech wrote: ↑Sun Aug 09, 2020 4:07 pmNo joke.
