Re: Way too early offseason
Guys I want to see gone:
Arozarena
Robles
Suarez
Crawford
If you can swing a trade for an Ace pitcher then:
Kirby
Gilbert
Re-sign:
Naylor - this is a must - we need more hitters like him
Polanco
The hitters are obvious - they suck and we shouldn't bother with them anymore. If we can get an ace like I described in a Skubal trade - then trade these two to shave payroll to cover the ace.

Only Geno will be gone of the four you want gone. Kirby and Gilbert aren't going anywhere. They might resign Naylor or Polanco but they will have significant competition and we know how that plays out. They aren't trading for Skubal. They love their farm system rankings too much.Lamda wrote: ↑Tue Oct 21, 2025 5:43 amGuys I want to see gone:

I agree with both of you. Mostly.D-train wrote: ↑Tue Oct 21, 2025 3:35 pm

Kirby and Gilbert still have "stuff". They are solid, MOR guys. I think Miller is the one I would want to see traded. He's got that bone spur elbow thing happening, and he is one surgery and a full season recovery away from being out of our rotation. So yeah, DT, I agree that the former 2 aren't going anywhere.
But I disagree that the M's won't go get an ace. They have shown a tendency to go after stud pitchers the in the past (Luis Castillo and Robbie Ray come to mind). But obviously they are only going to do that if they deal someone like Miller (they aren't going with a 6 man rotation).
I think they are going to take a hard run at Naylor - he is beast. They might make a competitive 3 or 4 year deal and actually lock him in. I think it will be similarly hard to get Polanco (he had a down year last year, but he was great this year, and was clutch in the post season), but they likely want him back.
Third base is a wild card. Williamson was solid, but not a superstar in the making (IMHO). They won't resign Suarez, good vibes notwithstanding. Bregman will likely opt out, but there is no way the M's are going to take a run at him. That leaves Yoan Moncada and Isiah Kiner-Falefa as the only free agents worth a lick. But I wouldn't touch either with a 10 foot pole. So my guess is Williamson is the 3B of the future.
I was following the news about Munetaka Murakami. He’s got power to spare but he strikes out a ton. Also, I seem to recall reading that he’s a below average defender. So if he is signed, it should be as a DH, I guess. But I imagine he’ll move into the Japanese embassy located in the Dodgers clubhouse, so don’t get your hopes up.
Skubal is a pipe dream — the sort of clickbait the pundits write about, and is about as likely to happen as a bachelorette party quietly leaving a bar or your ex texting just to apologize with no ulterior motive.
Re: Way too early offseason
What do you guys think they do about the outfield?
Stick with Arozarena and just let Raley walk? Or act like he's a 1B still?
I think we could do better than Arozarena for what he gets paid, personally. Including just going with Robles/Raley.

If they trade for Skubal it will only be if the Tigers are out of it at the trade deadline. We are NOT going to be the highest bidder for Naylor so it will have to be willing to take a discount.Big_Maple wrote: ↑Tue Oct 21, 2025 5:00 pmI agree with both of you. A .600 OPS is NOT solid. It is dogshit for a 3B. I am hopeful his results in Tacoma late summer were real because they were a lot better than they were in April but I will believe it when I see it in MLB. Why would Bregman opt out. What team thinks he is worth more than $42M at age 33??

There is no "ifs" about it - as I understand it, Bregman has already decided to opt out:D-train wrote: ↑Tue Oct 21, 2025 5:27 pm

"Bregman employed a strategy previously employed by other clients of agent Scott Boras: Take a short-term deal, opt out after one year, then return to the open market without the albatross of a qualifying offer that would require a signing team to forfeit a top draft pick.
After the 2023 season, third baseman Matt Chapman signed a three-year, $54 million deal with the Giants. Near the conclusion of a spectacular 2024 campaign, he signed a new six-year, $151 million deal with the Giants. Similarly, Blake Snell — coming off a Cy Young season in 2023 — signed a two-year, $62 million deal with the Giants. He opted out of the deal after one year, returned to the open market last winter, and signed a five-year, $182 million deal with the Dodgers."

Re: Way too early offseason
That's not what is sounds like out of Detroit already - they are forced with the decision to go for it 1 more year and let him walk for nothing if they don't trade him at the deadline for far less than they would get now - or trade him not and reap a greater haul. It sounds like its a forgone conclusion there that he doesn't re-sign. They would be better off trading him now.
Re: Way too early offseason
Dom Canzone was a stud when he was on the field. Probably most underrated player on the team.
Re: Way too early offseason
Here are our outfielders in 2024 and 2025.
Randy's odd man out in my book.
He could bring a return, and his money could help bring in an infielder.
