But thats it, it was a move just to make a move. Deadine moves in my mind are a lot just PR. They couldnt just do nothing but what move is really going to make a difference? They could have added a healthy Judge and what, probably doesnt get them back to .500.D-train wrote: ↑Thu Aug 13, 2026 2:37 amYep but they had to make a move to make a move and do nothing to augment the pen. Jerry is such a clown.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 13, 2026 2:05 amWhat really jumps out about Ward is how weak he is when he hits the ball. Should have just given Arroyo a shot.

Castillo was on the team when they went 9-15 in July and finished 2nd to last in the league in runs Donald.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Aug 13, 2026 2:28 amI was thinking about, i believe it was SB asking if the Castillo trade made the mariners better. I think you could argue it made them worse. They got riid of what was considered a glue guy. They get back a not very effective reliever in Dominguez when they could have used castillo in the bp. Its just funny, everyone complaining about the miller piggyback when the thing was actually pretty effective. Now they are stuck with a less effective miller

So? Im not saying they shouldnt have made the move. I am saying one could argue it weakened the team this season

There have been teams that have come back from the dead. Who was it, Cleveland, Minnesota, did it after unloading players at the deadline? Everyone wants moves when actually it can make more sense not to. Its like paraprosdokian, don't just do something, stand there! It can be better just to stand there

And I'm saying the team was already weak and Castillo wasn't helping things.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Aug 13, 2026 3:09 amSeattle or Bust wrote: ↑Thu Aug 13, 2026 2:57 amCastillo was on the team when they went 9-15 in July and finished 2nd to last in the league in runs Donald.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Aug 13, 2026 2:28 amI was thinking about, i believe it was SB asking if the Castillo trade made the mariners better. OK, which isnt addressing the point i was trying to make. The move freed up payroll, cool. It was a salary dump. Im saying replacing Castillo with Dominguez didnt improve this team, it could have actually weakened it.

It's the history of losing that leads to those rare times where the team is actually competitive but still not able to take that last step that every other franchise has.gil wrote: ↑Thu Aug 13, 2026 2:19 amI think you need to define losing. Winning records every year 2021-2025.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 13, 2026 2:13 amIt's also the stink of losing, that's what this franchise is used to and it's all they know.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Thu Aug 13, 2026 2:08 amTo make matters worse?
Castillo went 7 tonight... 1 hit... 10 K's.
Hasn't had a start like that in 2 years.
It's the clubhouse. It's the leadership. It's the organization.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks consider a 10-7 record to be total dogshit and do something about it.

Dipoto made a pair of deadline moves, one was a salary dump, the other was a token to address this season. I think it was pretty much a white flag. This years team is on its own. Roll it back in the garage over the off season

And they know this season is over and they didn't want to pay him next year. This was about $, and nothing more. Getting better this year was a pipe dream. Even the idiots in this FO knew that.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Thu Aug 13, 2026 2:57 amCastillo was on the team when they went 9-15 in July and finished 2nd to last in the league in runs Donald.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Aug 13, 2026 2:28 amI was thinking about, i believe it was SB asking if the Castillo trade made the mariners better.
