Here are our outfielders in 2024 and 2025.

Randy's odd man out in my book.

He could bring a return, and his money could help bring in an infielder.
I'd be happy if the M's don't even offer him a QO. He's projected to earn between $16-18MM which is insane. But I expect they will offer a QO and get the draft pick compensation. No one will bite, and he'll be a Mariner again in 2026.

But let's say he walks - who do we go after if he walks? Obviously Bellinger and Tucker are the big names, but they will wind up in pinstripes or Dodger blue. Who is a realistic upgrade?

Pretty sure he last time thru arbitration so not QO, rather they trade IMO he doesn’t have that value and should be able to replace cheaper and younger with less strike outs

Canzone and Julio both had great years so they're probably going to have two of the three positions.

Unless they're giving up on Robles/Raley we have a full outfield even without Arozarena.

I just dont think we'd even really miss Randy. He looks cool, but he's not that great.

Weird. I Googled this, and the AI version of Google says "2026 status: He is arbitration-eligible for 2026, where his salary will be determined through negotiation with the Mariners."

Usually I use Spotrac, but this time I got a message saying I needed to upgrade to a premium account to see the details of his contract. When the hell did that happen? I thought Spotrac was free - always has been when I've used it in the past.

Anyhoo - I dunno what his status is.

But I agree with you and bpj - he looks cool in his neon sleeve, but I'd take someone who strikes out less and gets on base more.

If you count playoff games, the Mariners went 93-76.

55%.

Great job Dipoto! Bunch of overachievers.

Maybe next year they'll grow a pair and spend some cash now that they don't have to prop up Root Sports.

Skubal is absolutely available that's a damn lie. I guarantee you offer one or 2 of our starters plus a top prospect or 2, they'd probably bite or at least seriously mull it. We are not keeping all 4 guys. I know they'll probably be around for what another 3-4 years before FA, this to me is a golden opportunity. You play in the best pitchers park in the league. The dude is flat dominant. He defines the term ACE. He's of the handful of guys you pay big money too. Jerry is obviously shown a willingness to pay pitchers ala Castillo. Am I opposed to dealing a couple of our guys it if meant getting a generational talent like Skubal, absolutely not. The way you can structure contracts these days ala Ohtani they can obviously pay him while still saving money. Again if your gonna pay anybody here might as well be a pitcher right? If I'm Jerry I'm getting on the horn tomorrow & seeing if Detroit wants 1 or 2 of my guys plus a couple prospects. They didn't pay Scherzer & their not gonna pay Skubal. Why would he wanna stay when they don't wanna put the pieces around him anyways. At least Jerry has shown a willingness to pay his own guys now. Again not everybody is gonna get a big mega contract. Josh will get his (or at least he should) Polanco could be had for a year plus an option. I know people are gonna say their not gonna go anywhere. Didn't we all think that with Jr. & Randy. Hell there were even rumors of trading Felix for Adrian Gonzalez at 1 point. You can't say it won't happen. Who else has the stadium plus the prospects to get a deal done. I thought I heard rumors he'd love to play here too. Again he's there to be had if you want him.

Guys I want to see gone:

Arozarena
Robles
Suarez
Crawford

If you can swing a trade for an Ace pitcher then:
Kirby
Gilbert

Re-sign:
Naylor - this is a must - we need more hitters like him
Polanco

The hitters are obvious - they suck and we shouldn't bother with them anymore. If we can get an ace like I described in a Skubal trade - then trade these two to shave payroll to cover the ace.
Only Geno will be gone of the four you want gone. Kirby and Gilbert aren't going anywhere. They might resign Naylor or Polanco but they will have significant competition and we know how that plays out. They aren't trading for Skubal. They love their farm system rankings too much.
Why would tiger land trade him

I agree. They made the playoffs and he was a key part of their success.

I think it’s more probable for the pirates trade Paul Skenes. He’s wasting away while they piss around with their rebuild.

Either way, our chances of getting either of them if they became available are asymptotically close to zero.

Didn't sign Scherzer so makes you think he's gonna wanna re-sign with Detroit. Plus Boras as his agent. Anyone could be gotten for the right price.

Arozarena has one more year of team control. It's right there in Baseball-Reference. He's a 3-4 WAR player. If they want to move him, he'll have a market, and there's a reasonable case for making that move.
