You really haven't been paying attention if you don't think we are set at DH. These are VERY conservative projections and still have us at 1.6 fWAR at DH. I think it will be about double that.

And we acquired "Louis Costello" as you probably call him, from the Reds, but he's still here via an extension.
I was just going off the fangraphs depth chart.

Wow Glenn Abbott turns 75 yo in 10 days.
He had a career K/9 of 3.4
1979 it was 1.9 per 9 He struck out 25 guys in 19 STARTS!!! 116 innings.
So he had 5 more Ks in 19 starts than the record for ONE game. Holy Hell that is insane.

Ref and Dom as a DH. Sorry. That is a drop off. So I still say no real hitter as DH. Rotational DH ? Sorry top 2 are a Aaaa player and a marginal player from Boston. K
So, young kids at 3rd. I’ll stand and say we recorded of today than the end of the season. DH and 3rd main reason why.
Dom as DH??? Holy hell

Dude Dom hit .300 with a .840 OPS. .879 vs. RHPs. FAR better than the Gimp Polanco. And Cal will DH some as well. You know the guy that hit 60 bombs last season??? Not sure what you are expecting. Sorry both prime Edgar and Nelson Cruz have retired.Gametime wrote: ↑Fri Feb 06, 2026 4:02 pmRef and Dom as a DH. Sorry. That is a drop off. So I still say no real hitter as DH. Rotational DH ? And Ref is at .959 vs LHPs tied with Springer for the top spot. He will only start vs. LHPs. When they bring in a RH reliever then Dom or Raley can PH.bpj wrote: ↑Fri Feb 06, 2026 6:07 pmWhat don't you like about Canzone?Gametime wrote: ↑Fri Feb 06, 2026 4:02 pmRef and Dom as a DH. Sorry. The other thing to look at is DH production generally, 247./320/ .414 is the average. The mariners should have above average production. DH isn't their issue
Re: The official Hot Stove League Thread 2025-26 Offseason
Exactly. Could have the second best DH production next to Ohtani.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Feb 06, 2026 10:19 pmThe other thing to look at is DH production generally, 247./320/ .414 is the average. The mariners should have above average production. DH isn't their issue

Kinda of interesting about young, maybe not just write him off, analytics still like him
His 470 ft home run last season
His 470 ft home run last season
Young hit the ball 114.1 mph, which places him in the top 10% by max velocity. That’s crucial. As Davy Andrews pointed out for Fangraphs (in a post about a young Victor Robles), rookie max exit velocity is one of the strongest predictors of future performance. Here’s how he summarized the results (in a separate post worth reading):
… for rookies with at least 200 balls in play, wRC+ was less predictive of their future performance than max exit velocity. That blew my mind. Knowing just one measurement, the velocity of a player’s hardest-hit ball, was more useful than knowing about their overall performance through their entire rookie season.
https://www.lookoutlanding.com/series-p ... odel-childIt’s not just the Mariners who like Young, either. One rival executive describes Young as “the league model darling right now,” pointing out that analytically based projection systems value him more highly than scouts do.
