“Geno is the guy and Sam will be backing him up,” Schneider said (quotes via Seattle Sports 710). “… (Howell) is a competitive guy … I’m sure there’s competition, but as of right now it’s not like we’re signing him to go and compete with Geno to be the starter

Good, because they aren’t signing him. They traded for him.
Re: Kick Geno to the curb???
Ok I think I misconstrued that. I thought he was responding to all his "Haters" that say he isn't good enough....seems he was saying those stats aren't good enough....my bad.

Re: Kick Geno to the curb???
Those rankings would be considerably worse if AFC quarterbacks were included.
Re: Kick Geno to the curb???
Statistics are not worthless, but they can be misleading and if used by people with an agenda, used to lie.
Since I watch every play, I trust my own eyes more.
For example, last year Geno managed to put together a couple late-game drives that worked and suddenly
the Geno lovers are showing us stats indicating Geno is well above average in this regard.
Last year PC and JS decided Geno would be good enough when the defense is elite. Only the defense sucked.
Since the theory was not actually tested, JS is willing to give the affordable-contract Geno another go and
see what happens with a new HC and defense. JS is being very conservative and playing the long game.
As a fan, I don't like it, but I'm just a fan.

1. Young guy with Purdy like Cinderella potential.
2. You have to have a backup QB
3. Cheap
