Saw that they were tanking and I like all three guys too but will the shots that Sewald took at the M's after he left preclude a reunion?? France is finally hitting so he is more valuable to us than them. I doubt they would want Garver either. Maybe give them Canzone and Bliss back with Hancock and Morales. That probably isn't enough though.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2024 5:09 pmThe Diamondbacks have lost 5 in a row and are now 25-32. They just put their ace Gallen on the IL with a hamstring strain leaving them with a starting pitching staff with 1x starter with an ERA over 4.00, 2x starters with ERA's over 5.00, and 2x starters with ERA's over 6.00. Their other top starter, Merrill Kelly, is on the 60-day IL with shoulder problems.
It appears their season might be done...
Obvious trade candidates are:
1B Christian Walker - hitting .262/.359/.461/.820 with 11 homers and a 57K/31BB ratio which is a career best. He's a free agent at season's end and would be a welcome addition. He's a far better 1B defensively than France meaning you could move France to more of a DH role and Garver to more of a backup catcher role.
DH Joc Pederson - hitting .308/.407/.546/.953 with 7 homers. He's been a pure platoon bat, having taken only 9 AB's against left handed pitching this season... but he's crushing righties. His K rate has ticked up of late, but the numbers have been even better in May with a .968 OPS. Joc is also a free agent in '25 and is making just $9.5 million. To me, he'd be the perfect add.
RHP Paul Sewald - has pitched just 7 innings thus far coming off the IL, but has been electric in those 7 innings. He's sporting a 1.29 ERA and 0.571 WHIP. Obviously the M's are familiar and can trade back for him considering he's a free agent in '25 as well.
Hell... I'd trade for them all.
Here's my package:
M's trade Mitch Garver, Ty France, Jonatan Clase, Emerson Hancock, and Michael Morales for all 3. M's eat all of Garver's remaining salary for '24 and half of his salary for '25. The trade gives the DBacks 2x auto replacements for the rentals lost so they can compete again in '25 and a starter to add into the back half of their terrible rotation.

I just do my own trades.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2024 5:24 pmIf the website had an algorithm that rejected stupid ass trades where you offer Emerson Hancock for Aaron Judge then I'd probably pay for it. But the trade board is swimming with these stupid trades and it's hard to filter through all of them.

Yep now they can't charge hardly anything for ads because I bet their views are down 90%

All of these players are pure rentals. They have very limited trade value.
Pederson is probably worth 5 points or so... Walker 8 points or so... Sewald 2 points or so... based on what I've seen on the MLBTV website.
Woo is worth double that and his value is only climbing.

Canzone, Bliss, Hancock, Morales would probably be enough if they're looking for a bulk prospect package of controlled MLB-ready players.D-train wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2024 5:44 pmSaw that they were tanking and I like all three guys too but will the shots that Sewald took at the M's after he left preclude a reunion?? But I'm not sure they'd want those players back if they were so willing to trade them.
As for Sewald taking shots... Dipshito seemed to still love him... I remember him saying he'd like Sewald to come back and coach some day for the M's. Idk.

Re: Trade Targets thread
Interesting development with the White Sox. MLBTV has reduced Luis Robert's value to just $23.6 million. I suppose they don't love his injury history compared to his contract as much anymore.
In no way can that be accurate though. He's now worth less than Rooker.

I think I would rather think big - I’d love a Brent Rooker & Mason Miller trade with the A’s. That one would at least involve Woo plus one or two top 20 prospects. But I think we get an offensive upgrade and an elite closer.

There's not a snowball's chance in hell the M's are going to give up what it's going to take to land him.
Miller's MLBTV value is 52.8. That's literally trading 2 of Cole Young, Colt Emerson, Harry Ford for a reliever.
They also have Munoz, Brash, Santos controlled for like the next 5 seasons at least. They're not adding another controlled reliever to the fold like that for what it would cost.

I never hurts to dream. Go big or go home.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2024 5:58 pmThey also have Munoz, Brash, Santos controlled for like the next 5 seasons at least. They're not adding another controlled reliever to the fold like that for what it would cost.
Yeah - I know I keep beating the Mason Miller drum. But I do that for a reason. He’s elite. He’s controllable.
The way I see it is the M’s don’t want to spend money. They keep shedding payroll. Mason and Rooker combined are earning $1.5MM. The one thing the M’s do seem have (and are willing to use) are prospects. The farm is looking good, and I think they might be willing to let a few top prospects go to get something of value in return.
I could see Jerry swinging a Soto-like trade to get 2 excellent players in return - especially if they are cheap and controllable as well. Better than losing a good prospect for a short term rental. That doesn’t seem like Jerry’s style.
Re: Trade Targets thread
They aren't trading Woo and weakening the current rotation though. A's have always been good with an all prospect package in the past.Big_Maple wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2024 5:54 pmGood points.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2024 5:48 pmAll of these players are pure rentals.
