If we lose this series or odds to win the division will go down to about 10% because they will have the tie breaker which in reality is a 2 game lead with only 6 to play. You neglected to mention that we play the Dodgers and they play the Angles in final series. Whoever wins this series will win the division. Happy to bet anyone $1000 on that.Hy Feiber wrote: ↑Fri Sep 19, 2025 7:50 pmI am here to reassure you, that mariner fans have nothing to worry about, even if they lose the next series 2 to 1.
They play the wretched Rockies, three games after, with Houston playing away against the A’s, no pushover.
I say the baseball gods are finally with Seattle.
60% chance of winning the Division.
So sleep well, guys.
Maybe this prediction will come to pass.

Houston is not a good road team, and they lost four straight to the A’s recently.
I assume they go 2-4 the final games.
The Dodgers are not a good road team either.
After the Houston series, the Ms could pick up two full games after the Rockies.
They be one game up.

My thoughts exactly. If there was ever a time for a serious pep talk, it's today. You got 2 All-Stars going against each other. Keep Houston in the park. Be selective with Lane, & Altuve, & now I guess Parades. Nothing over the plate, paint the corners all day, get them to chase that high fastball. Don't get behind in counts if your Woo. If you get the opportunity, run on Brown all day. No waiting around. Work the count, take pitches, get him to 60 pitches by the 3rd inning, that's the goal. Study him, I hope they have already. Minimize strikeouts, put the ball in the play, make solid contact. All the usual cliches. Woo has to have his best game of the season today.mostonmike wrote: ↑Fri Sep 19, 2025 7:39 pmThis is now one-game-at-a-time territory.
Its already playoff baseball.
All that matters is tonight's game. Worry about tomorrow when tomorrow comes.
The Astros have been masters of this situation down the years, they don't give a fk about tomorrow's game or the series as such.
They will be focused on every AB, every RISP situation etc for tonight only. I will bet £/$1,000 they won't make a single error in the field tonight.
They know how to do this and we have very little experience. Wilson in particular could cost us a game by not making courageous decisions if needed.
Hopefully he won't need to. Because if this team plays to its full potential, it should be our time, this time.
Go M's.
Re: Really Must win game thread
That is obviously possible but I will be STUNNED if the Astros lose 4 of 6 to the A's and Angels. I would prefer to win the series and not have to back in like that.Hy Feiber wrote: ↑Fri Sep 19, 2025 8:55 pmHouston is not a good road team, and they lost four straight to the A’s recently.

To what do you attribute Julio’s fantastic second half?D-train wrote: ↑Fri Sep 19, 2025 9:19 pmThat is obviously possible but I will be STUNNED if the Astros lose 4 of 6 to the A's and Angels. Tigers down 6-0 in the 3rd. We win tonight and we have the 2 seed and a bye.

Re: Really Must win game thread
we really are inclined to give the last few games or at bats or whatever a lot of weight in projecting what we think the next outcome will be. That's why a manager will sit a player after a two home run game, or winning nine games in a row or losing nine games in a row really impacts whether a team wins or loses the next game.

27 stolen bases for Naylor is amazing.
The stoutest base stealer in history!
