I'm just curious here - I know it will never happen, but would the M's consider going after Freeman? Consider the pros here:

• He's a left handed bat in a largely right handed lineup

• He's a beast at the plate - career OPS .892

• His 2021 WAR was 4.7

• He is "affordable" - rumors are he is looking for 6 years $180M or so. Certainly reasonable and begs the question why haven't the Braves jumped all over this?

In short, he ticks a lot of boxes. He's 32, but still very productive.

So yeah - I get that France is amazeballs at 1B. But he would also be amazeballs at 3B if we signed someone like Freeman for 1B. Why wouldn't we?

That is a bigger contract than Semien got. Just trade for Olson who is better and 5 years younger.

Ok let's pretend he played is whole career in St. Louis which I believe is a neutral park. So no Coors issue.

Where would he play considering he hasn't played a single inning off SS, there are concerns about his arm, Frazier has played 3 games at third in his entire career and Frazier hit 5 HRs last season and JK is going to be in LF every day.

I'd put him at 2B where his numbers would look a whole lot better and use him as the back up SS on the roster so we don't need to carry an extra infielder. I'm not expecting Story to put up Coors type numbers. If he put up at least away stats while manning the second bag, that's still a huge upgrade. Plus he can swipe 20-30 bases in the show. As far as arm issues go, playing second base should be an easy transition. Then go out and sign Kris Bryant to play 3B/OF to split time with Toro at 3B and Frazier in LF.

I feel a Jerry Dipoto trade coming on!

I don't see them adding both Bryant and Story. That would be 3 contracts of over $100M. So JK to AAA in that scenario? Also we would have a Corner LFer that hit 5 HRs last season. It just doesn't work no matter how you slice it.

Lemme ask you this. If we add Kris Bryant, does that make Seattle's offense above average?

Exactly. Or go after Matt Olson in trade. Ty France is exciting at 3B. His bat is meh as a 1B. Not a dig on him, it's just there are better 1B available, so why settle for a bat worse than France because they're a 3B?

France and Toro as a 3B platoon with France/Torrens DH platoon on the other days makes sense to me. And I hate platoons.

Not even remotely close. If we add Kris Bryant we would have one player who is above average OPS. for their position. We have none right now.

Freeman is the easier get being that he only costs money & not prospects. I'm just shocked he's still on the board. That being said I don't care his age, I'd be willing to throw a 7th (an even an 8th year option) year with 25 million per. Would I prefer Olson yes & would move probably any prospect outside of JRod to make it happen. This is what Oakland has to remember all these prospects they'd acquire, their never gonna be able to sign any of them because of their market & them just being relatively cheap so in essence I'd be willing to gamble on dealing just about anybody frankly. Dealing pitchers doesn't concern me as much as dealing position players. Pitchers you never know how their arms gonna end up so I have no problem giving up 3-4 top 10 arms + a bat for Olson. Again at the end of the day, their just prospects. I'd say the same thing about Olson. I'd put up the same offer to Cleveland for JRam as I would to Oakland for Olson & see who bites first. The one thing teams want is pitching. Look at it this way, Jerry was able to stock the farm in no time & get us to the best farm system in all of baseball who's to say he can't re-stock & do it all over again.
