Who's off the board tally
Re: Who's off the board tally
Story's Away OPS in 2021 was .717
Career OPS in Away games is .752
JP Crawford had a .715 OPS overall in 2021.
Kyle Seager has a career OPS of .763
Nobody has been excited about either of their offense and given what Baez got paid, Story is probably going to get paid somewhere.
He sounds like a great fit for the Yankees where his home park won't neutralize what he does bring to the field.

I'm just curious here - I know it will never happen, but would the M's consider going after Freeman? Consider the pros here:
So yeah - I get that France is amazeballs at 1B. But he would also be amazeballs at 3B if we signed someone like Freeman for 1B. Why wouldn't we?
- He's a left handed bat in a largely right handed lineup
- He's a beast at the plate - career OPS .892
- His 2021 WAR was 4.7
- He is "affordable" - rumors are he is looking for 6 years $180M or so. Certainly reasonable and begs the question why haven't the Braves jumped all over this?

Re: Who's off the board tally
Exactly. Or go after Matt Olson in trade. Ty France is exciting at 3B. His bat is meh as a 1B. Not a dig on him, it's just there are better 1B available, so why settle for a bat worse than France because they're a 3B?Case_Of_The_Runs wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 11:17 pmI'm just curious here - I know it will never happen, but would the M's consider going after Freeman? In short, he ticks a lot of boxes. He's 32, but still very productive.

France and Toro as a 3B platoon with France/Torrens DH platoon on the other days makes sense to me. And I hate platoons.

I would shit Tiffany cuff-links if we signed Freeman.bpj wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 11:25 pmExactly. Or go after Matt Olson in trade. Ty France is exciting at 3B. His bat is meh as a 1B. He'd be perfect to play 1B and transition to DH in the next few years.Case_Of_The_Runs wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 11:27 pmI would shit Tiffany cuff-links if we signed Freeman.bpj wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 11:25 pmExactly. Re: Who's off the board tally
We could live with Bryant or Freeman! Bryant is 2.5 years younger than Freeman. Similar career OPS.
Matt Olson is 2 years younger than Bryant.
Any of them make us a lot better so I'll be happy.

I just think its a foregone conclusion that Freeman stays in Atlanta. Too much of a love affair there for it not to happen.

Re: Who's off the board tally
I don't see them adding both Bryant and Story. That would be 3 contracts of over $100M. So JK to AAA in that scenario? Also we would have a Corner LFer that hit 5 HRs last season. It just doesn't work no matter how you slice it.Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 10:42 pmI'd put him at 2B where his numbers would look a whole lot better and use him as the back up SS on the roster so we don't need to carry an extra infielder. I'm not expecting Story to put up Coors type numbers. If he put up at least away stats while manning the second bag, that's still a huge upgrade. Plus he can swipe 20-30 bases in the show. As far as arm issues go, playing second base should be an easy transition. Then go out and sign Kris Bryant to play 3B/OF to split time with Toro at 3B and Frazier in LF.D-train wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 9:23 pmOk let's pretend he played is whole career in St. Louis which I believe is a neutral park. So no Coors issue.Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 9:11 pm
I think I might be the only person on this forum who's in on Story. I'm not sold on the Coors regression. I'm sure it will to a point, but not as bad as people think. Especially for a middle infielder. However, I also think we should sign Bryant as well to go along with Story. But i think that the Mariners will only grab one or the other.
Where would he play considering he hasn't played a single inning off SS, there are concerns about his arm, Frazier has played 3 games at third in his entire career and Frazier hit 5 HRs last season and JK is going to be in LF every day.
I feel a Jerry Dipoto trade coming on!
