Besides Suarez and Naylor, are there any other infielders out there and potentially available that would make a difference to a contending team?

Wonder if the Indians might be persuaded to move Ramirez?

Where’s the rocket science? We are a very good defensive team with above average starting pitching when healthy. We are a horrible offensive team relying solely on the home run. Our bullpen may actually be overachieving with several guys who should be in the minors. We knew all this a year ago. Duh? Stanton is home counting his profits while Jerry and Dan toe the party line. I think the bottom line is that ownership doesn’t care enough about winning to do what it takes.
We are 23rd out of 30 teams defensively per fangraphs. Would be close to last without Cal and Julio.

Williamson has been more than adequate as an everyday 3b. I'd rather just upgrade 1b
The M's don't need adequate. They need better players.

How do you see the M's upgrading 1B? Please don't just throw blind cow shit against a wall... actually provide a solution.

Luke Raley is going to be the every day 1B vs righties because Canzone is guaranteed to start against righties in right.

Everyone seems to want the M's to grab Naylor, then what do you do with Raley and Canzone? Naylor has also only put up 0.4 fWAR while playing 1st base which is 26th in the league. He has a 1.070 OPS as a DH where he has generated all his WAR. He's not a legit 1B. He also cannot hit lefties. Ryan O'Hearn presents the exact same problem.

The only 1B bat conceivably available who is worth it is Matt Olson. I proposed a trade for Olson in this thread and was poo poo'd for it.

Outside of that, the M's would have to add a right-handed 1B who hits lefties well and DFA Solano who right now doesn't help you very much because he can only hit righties.

Here's your list: https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/major ... &pagenum=1

It's not great.

I don't give a flying fuck about WAR. If Naylor can play a competent 1b, that's the move for me.

Idk what gets it done, but it shouldn't require anything more than a few peripheral t10 prospects that would likely shoot to t7 in the ARI system. Who do they like? Peete and Morales? Sauryn Lao and Peete, maybe Caleb Cali or Luis Suisbel tossed in?

I'm not poopoo'ing your Olson idea. I just think that with 4 years left on his deal, it's probably more of an offseason move.

Why did you just ignore everything I just said?

We have 2x 1B's on the roster currently who smash righties and can't hit lefties. That is what Naylor does too.

Do you struggle with reading comprehension or something?

Luke Raley is your 1b vs RHPs. I like Raley but the consistency hasn't been achieved yet this year. He can move to the bench if you acquire Naylor.

Luke Raley in 2025: .223/.720 108 wRC+

Josh Naylor in 2025: .295/.823 127 wRC+

I mean there's a considerable difference. And Canzone is an OF. C'mon bro I mean first you say "the Mariners need better players" and then you sit there and call Raley and Naylor the same guy

You could be the dumbest person alive.

They are not benching Luke Raley in favor of another left-handed 1B who can't lefties. Especially not for one who is a pure rental. Yes, I realize Canzone is an outfielder... so is Raley if he's not playing 1B you clown.

Trading for Naylor creates a positional logjam that they're not going to partake in. It's like your mind isn't able to connect dots or something.

Raley has options. You say you want better players and then you contradict yourself by whining about a positional logjam. There's also the injured list. Who knows what the health status is come Aug 1 or Aug 20.
