So if Toro projects as a utility infielder along the lines of a Dylan Moore, was that trade really worthwhile?
Yes. Astros got 2 month of a very pedestrian performance out of Graveman. Even if only a UT, five years of that is worth FAR more.

The new surroundings didn't suit him? Seems odd he would just lose it following a trade. That said, he was probably overachieving (or benefitting from luck) with the M's given his low BAbip against compared to with Hou.

Oh and then there is this little tidbit.
Misleading - Toro has had nothing to do with this 7 game win streak. Also the trade was on June 26 and the Ms lost the following 2 games.

He was 1-3 with a walk and a run scored last night. What has Gravemen contributed to the 7 game win streak?

Didn't Graveman blow a save against the M's? That's one win right there. ;)

Saw a picture that Joe Smith had been better than Graveman since the trade.

Toro has been bad. But the black hole he filled was even worse.

Come on, Moore was just catching fire when that trade happened. Who knows what he might have done with regular playing time.

LOL He played in 8 straight games from July 21st-28th and put up .111/.516. That fire couldn't roast a marshmallow.

I was referring to the walk-off grand slam on July 26. The biggest hit in years of Mariner baseball and he gets rewarded the next day by Sham-wow guy with demotion to the bench. He was poised to go on a torrid streak with that confidence-building blast and instead got bitch-slapped to the curb.

I've never been convinced that Toro is a good option at 3B and if you move France to 3B, that makes an obvious opening for White to come back and inherit 1B. Anybody good with that besides Dipoto and Servais and both of the coaches' moms and White's mom? Keep Seager until he falls off the table. Put him fifth in the lineup and then perhaps move him up to fourth after the AS break. I like the lineup with Crawford leading off, France the number two, Haniger at 3, and perhaps Lewis at 4. Seager slots in at five followed by Toro, Kelenic, Murphy/Raleigh, and then either Fraley or Moore.

But since Servais is in love with the L-R-L-R lineups, there is no way he'd do the obvious.
I don't think Toro makes sense in the infield at all.

Honestly, I like Moore better at this point. He's one of the most defensively versatile players in the game and a flat-out better athlete than Toro. And if you only have two non-catchers on the bench, Moore makes sense because he can play all the positions. Toro's value is in his bat, and if that isn't showing up, then what do you have?

How do the Seattle Mariners want to win?

Via the homerun ball?
Or getting on base and driving in those runs with consistant hitting (small ball).
Walks, steal, move the runner to 3rd, sac fly scores ala Kansas City.
Even KC proves you can be built like that but STILL need power hitters on your club.
It's a mix of both worlds.

We win alot right now via the homerun ball. IF that's the winning formula then sign Kyle.
Me personally I love the small ball and believe in producing runs. Our park is built for that.
Yet we continue to rely heavily on the long ball. Which is probably why our guys do so well on the road.

I say buy Kyle for a year AND sign JRam. I don't believe the young crew we have wins you a World Series just yet.
Just my humble opinion. We got the money. Time for a bat and an arm. Takes a few years for guys to develop into everyday productive players.
Look at JP and France as examples.
