Re: A trade deadline plan
Got me thinking of three year runs... Bonds 01-03
.345/.542/.808, 253 OPS+, 164 HR
.345/.542/.808, 253 OPS+, 164 HR
Re: A trade deadline plan
Rooker is on pace for about four war he has a 880 OPS and a 154 OPS Plus. And only makes minimum wage. Go ahead and enter the contest and we'll see who wins! Lol

Watch it again. He had stopped backing up before catching it and wasn't that deep really. You gotta make that throw, even if it's a 1% chance.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 6:06 amHis momentum is away from home plate when he makes the catch. There's no point in throwing the ball. “He’s playing in because there’s one out,” White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said. “He’s going back. Even if he runs back and comes in, there’s no play there. If we’re going to dissect that, we’re making something out of nothing. You’re not going to throw that guy out from there.”

I don't know... It's more than just stopping backing up, to get anything on the throw he needs to be moving towards home plate, like this

But looking at, it was high enough where he could have perhaps backpedaled and then ran in for the catch and throw. Terms of being cool, that be the thing to do, show off your arm.

The next day he made an incredible diving catch and almost hosed the runner at home.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 4:08 pmI don't know... It's more than just stopping backing up, to get anything on the throw he needs to be moving towards home plate, like this

He is one of the best defenders in baseball. Had 12 defensive runs saved last year.
One silly play doesn't make a man and it's so dumb to focus on it as a problem.

We'll see if Stanton and Dipoto are lying.D-train wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 3:30 pmExactly it's like people forget who our owner is all of a sudden.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 5:14 amMassive in relation to the $750,000 he's making now. It is not getting close to $20 mil. Sure Robert could be a bargain at $20 mil or he could strain his hip flexor again running to first base, who knows. Hey, I don't have a problem with getting Robert. But the fact is he come with a price tag that would be factored in. I wouldn't be surprised if Stanton passed
They're stating adding payroll will not be an issue this deadline.
I also see them doing everything they can to offload Haniger's money... do that and they're really only on the hook for Garver in '25 looking like bad money.

The biggest thing is there is ZERO downside. Unless he was on a OF throw count???Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 3:46 pmWatch it again. The said they they are ok adding payroll. Didn't say how much and if they would for sure. Stanton recently defended this season's payroll because it is higher than last year's. It is one million higher. I wouldn't trust these MFers if they told me they were going to buy me a Bologna sandwich.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 5:07 pmWe'll see if Stanton and Dipoto are lying.D-train wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 3:30 pmExactly it's like people forget who our owner is all of a sudden.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 5:14 amMassive in relation to the $750,000 he's making now. I think they're willing to add significant payroll if it makes sense.D-train wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 5:30 pmThe said they they are ok adding payroll. Didn't say how much and if they would for sure. Perhaps trading a good chunk of the farm and spending $34 million for 1 year of Juan Soto is not a trade they'd bite on.
But 3 years of Robert for $12.5 million, then 2x years at $20 million? Perhaps the control and manageable money tickles their fancy more.

Re: A trade deadline plan
That wasn't the issue. We were discussing whether he should have thrown home on that one play. If he's such a great defender that makes it even worse than he didn't get off a throw there. Also, it was a walk-off situation.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 5:05 pmThe next day he made an incredible diving catch and almost hosed the runner at home.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 4:08 pmI don't know...
