It's all tryouts. There's no guarantee anybody we bring in (remember Polanco was brought in, Canzone brought in, Rojas brought in, Haniger brought in, Garver brought in) is going to continue to be what they are in their other uniform.

Yes, keep playing the guys you see something in. The guys that I mentioned -- Bliss, Robles, Garver, Locklear. Play them every day for the second half.

Robert has the three years of control but they aren't cheap, next season is $12.5 mil the 2026 and 2027 options are $20 mil each. It's a contract he signed before appearing in the ML That would seem fairly significant, particularly to the mariners

Rooker is about to see a massive pay raise in arbitration and if both are healthy and producing for a full year, Robert would double his WAR output if not triple it.

Massive in relation to the $750,000 he's making now. It is not getting close to $20 mil. Sure Robert could be a bargain at $20 mil or he could strain his hip flexor again running to first base, who knows. Hey, I don't have a problem with getting Robert. But the fact is he come with a price tag that would be factored in. I wouldn't be surprised if Stanton passed

But again... it's cost relative to the potential production.

If Robert can stay healthy and just play 140 or so games for you, he's proven before that he can be a top player in the league. In 2021, he played in just 68 games and put up 3.5 fWAR. That's 8.3 fWAR/162.

Right now he's on pace for about 4fWAR/162 in 2024 which is a very serviceable player for the cost.

The other aspect of this is that he's just 26. You're potentially getting a guy in his direct prime years.

Lets say they win the lottery... he stays healthy... and hangs 20 fWAR over the next 3 years in an M's uni... it hasn't cost you much. I really do like Rooker, I do. But Rooker will max out as a 3-4 win player and is already 30.
