No shit. multilayer straw / sand / charcoal water filters allow a certain amount of microbes to pass.
The latest I heard on KIRO radio today was that there is a NEW OUTBREAK in Washington and that ICUs are running at maximum capacity.... Wanna bet the "outbreak" is due to more testing and that the ICUs are usually full of patients that need critical care for ALL REASONS.?

As much as I hate the masks, and believe they're mostly theatrics to make dumb people feel safe: Though the virus is small enough by itself to get through a mask, it's mostly traveling in droplets (of saliva or mucous) which a mask can block to some extent.

There's some stuff out there saying the amount/volume of exposure you breathe determines whether you'll catch the disease or be fought off by your immune system. So we can wear masks to decrease the risk of catching Covid, or, imagine this, we could just try not to cough or sneeze toward strangers. Method 2 would be less intrusive and stupid, but it's way easier to tell people to wear masks than a long 2-sentence solution.

In related news, Inslee's idea that we should all keep wearing masks in public until there's a vaccine is infuckingsane.
