Yeah, understood it was taking a physical
The Seahawks wanted to conduct a physical on Fries to assess his recovery from the injury, but NFL rules prevented teams from conducting physicals on free agents until the new league year began on March 12.

Fries ended up signing a contract with the Minnesota Vikings on March 11, a day before the Seahawks could conduct a physical.

Seahawks General Manager John Schneider confirmed that the team wanted Fries to come in for a physical, but he didn't want to wait.

Indianapolis Colts guard Will Fries, considered one of the top interior OL targets in free agency, has agreed to a big five-year, $88 million deal with the Minnesota Vikings. As if that wasn’t enough, the Vikings also signed ex-Colts center Ryan Kelly.

A report from Seahawks insider Corbin Smith says that Seattle was interested in Fries and was willing to splash the cash (by Seattle’s free agent standards). Smith wrote on Tuesday that the Seahawks had an offer of three years and at least $50 million for Fries, which is effectively in the same ballpark as what the Vikings offered in terms of average annual value. Obviously the big difference is Minnesota lined up a longer-term contract.

This story was every where before JS went into damage control. I'm not sure I feel any better about them requiring a physical that the Vikings obviously didn't require either. Regardless, it is more lack of importance placed on the O Line by a guy that has done that for years, and this organization has paid the price.

Fries says fuck off to a physical, Geno and DK just say fuck off. Geno didn't even counter offer. Boy, guys are just killing themselves to come play here! :D  :D

Disclaimer: I won't miss either DK or Geno. That said, it is troublesome when guys demand to get out.

I think John has gotten something of a free pass after 2013, but don't forget Pete had final word on roster moves including draft picks, although we don't know how much of an impact he had on those decisions. And John didn't fire Pete, Jody did.
Personnel decisions seem about the same since Pete left. I think it's been mostly JS all along.
I'm not saying JS slit Pete's throat, but he assured Jody he could find a new HC and right the ship.
JS is fucking stupid at this point not to concentrate on the O-line. He says he knows everyone is talking
about it, but he keeps gaslighting everyone. If he wasn't going make the O-line the priority, he should have
never picked up Darnold, who is a pocket passer and not mobile. Even the SB team didn't have that great an
O-line, but RW being mobile opened up the run game anyway. No fucks by JS. He's on thin ice.
JS pushed back on the radio saying his evaluation has allowed other teams paying big for his former stated olineman. Crazy JS?? Why has your picked line sucked for 10 plus years?? You suck at oline choosing He a look do said he has no weakness at evaluation at any area. Maybe when younger, but not now. Ok, I think oline has priced that wrong.

His ego won't allow him to admit that he has been off base all along. Again, it's why they continued to trade down for years after it stopped working. Beastmode and RW masked a TON of issues upfront, and JS bought into his own bullshit that THIS is how you construct a team. Someone tell Philadelphia that building their offense and defense from the front to back is wrong.

Lucas Patrick who they had in for a visit signs with the Bengals. That leaves Dillon Radunz who they have brought in as a veteran FA guard possibly

Colin cowherd doesn't think much of the Kupp signing
"I thought to be honest with you, one of the strangest contracts to me was Cooper Kupp," said Colin Cowherd on his podcast. "John Schneider, the general manager of Seattle, has almost never missed on receivers. He has been fantastic with wide receivers. Cooper Kupp does not separate."

"Sean McVay moves on from a receiver, they resigned Tutu Atwell because he gets open. They went out and paid for older Davante Adams because if you go look at the analytics, he gets open. Cooper Kupp does not get open at all."

"But the Cooper Kupp deal, when you look at the Sam Darnold contract which can end up being just a one-year $13 million deal. Do you think that Darnold is a two to three-year player in Seattle? Because the Cooper Kupp move is like dang."

Local guy, fans love him. I’m telling you, that matters to JS. People are mad about the O Line? Fire the OC. That’s happened time and time over. This team he wanted even more insulation.

Turn on the local radio. It’s all fluff piece bullshit about the guys they signed and how great the offense will be with the new stand. I’m no longer abbreviating Schneider with JS. He will forever be PR to me now.

John sucks at drafting, developing, and retaining O-linemen.

We've been screaming for trench help for years.

They better draft the Texas guards for Christ sake.

Tell me a lineman you wanted to stick the franchise tag on since Hutchinson???

John is a nice guy. Gives good interviews. But, his last 6-8 years leaves a lot to be desired. His ego on his process just won’t let him change on the oline. And look where it has gotten the team. How long has it been since we were relevant? We are not going to be real good anytime soon. Sad
