Those assessments were made pre-draft and combine numbers were probably given too much weight. Obviously Dodson has proven himself to be considerably better than that rating, but like Knight he had a 4.6 40 time.
So he had a 4.6 40 and a 89.5 PFF rating. Good to know!

I think he will be better than most of the 2024 fourth round picks. At a minimum.

The issue with him is he strong enough for the NFL, it's a big jump. don't know about boom or bust, they will use him on special teams, he will contribute

You don't need to be big to tackle. Look at Witherspoon. He may have issues taking on Blocks by pulling O linemen though...

I didn't say big, I said strong
. Knight's biggest issue is that he struggles to take on blocks. He put up 21 reps on the bench press at the NFL combine, which was tied for the most among linebackers, but that hasn't translated to functional or play strength on the field. He needs to add some extra size and strength, especially in his lower half, to help avoid getting pushed out of the gap and stuck on blocks.

Who are you quoting?

There was this from the nfl .com scouting report...
Weaknesses
Needs to improve his blocking-scheme recognition.
Plays with too much guesswork pulling him out of position.
Below-average instincts and will lose track of play design.
Freestyler who will lose track of his run fits.
Fails to punch and control blocks before they control him.
I had assumed he had good instincts but that makes him sound like a slower, smaller Aaron Curry. I think i am going with "bust" now.

Bleacher report perhaps, thought it was a common observation, here is another
Knight has to get stronger when stacking & shedding offensive linemen; once the OL gained his chest, Knight had no consistent answer to defend himself and was too frequently driven off his spot and eliminated from the play.

To me, the pick was a bit of a head scratcher along with the Barner pick. Seemed like there were more highly regarded players still available at both positions. I guess they saw those two as best fits for their schemes.
