I just looked thru every draft pick in the 5th-7th rounds from 2013-2019 and had a hard time finding ANY players that became stars. Stefon Diggs and Jay Ajayi in the 5th round were the closest... EXCEPT Chris Carson was a 7th round pick and is possibly one of the top 5 RBs in the game.
This times 1000. Somehow, some people, who have no experience outside of their silly Fantasy Football teams, have slapped their own unattainable goals and expectations on the front office based on the incredible teams from 2012/2013. That level of success by any team is simply unsustainable outside of Madden. This is real life. People that know and understand football recognize the limitations of drafting humans - and yet, somehow, because malik mcdowell drove an ATV off a cliff, the greatest outlier of all time, that is how they choose to define John Schneider, who thus needs to be fired.
Meanwhile this roster is loaded, sans injuries, through both drafting and incredible free agent and trade acquisitions - the same incredible success that some people choose to ignore, because they so desperately need to drive this narrative home that JS is awful, so they can purport to know more than one of the most successful GM's in the NFL, and by far the greatest in Seattle sports history. Focusing on negatives while ignoring the overwhelming positives, doesn't make JS look bad, it shows the true nature of the poster - they choose to live life through a negative filter, period. Nothing will ever be good enough. The team could go 16-0 and because they weren't all shut outs or blow outs, it's all a huge failure. These people are super fun at parties, by the way. Someone was complaining that seattle doesn't blow out teams enough. Really? It's the NFL, teams rarely get blown out. The Jets at 0-10 and are still competitive. But because Seattle had three anomaly blow outs seven seasons ago, not having them right now, amidst a string of massive injuries, in the most competitive division in the NFL, means John Schneider sucks. Yeah, that's strong logic there. This team should be winning like it's Oklahoma playing Kansas in the 70's. Every week should be 69-3. Yeah, another reasonable expectation.

Draft complainers are simpletons. They ignore all the context and the realities of draft risk, and the millions of variables, and it's most likely because they did so well in their fantasy draft that they actually think they know how to do better than someone doing it in the real world. The best part? They get to GM in hindsight. That's the best way! Complaining about Malik McDowell is about the lowest form of human intelligence, second only to believing socialism is a good way of governance.
Every single move a team makes is based on risk. You don't get to embrace the risks that pay off - and there have been many - and only focus on the ones that don't. That's being hypocritical. It's all risk - every single transaction. This ain't your fantasy team, and your expectations aren't JC's to fulfill, they are yours to manage. 7-3, drivers seat, another likely playoff run - and complaining about Malik McDowell. That's just embarrassing.
