not to Pete and John - that was the Holmgren era. when has PC/JS ever drafted a CB higher than 3rd round, or on the smaller side (other than Amadi specifically for the slot)?Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 12:40 amLike I said, Houston and Arizona both want out of 2 and 3, but nobody is willing to give up the capital, which then makes me think, why would anybody think the Seahawks could trade back from if Arizona or Houston can't. I think Seattle sticks and picks. And I think it's for a QB. It just makes too much sense for them not too. I think Witherspoon goes 6 to Detroit, which is why they traded Okudah to Atlanta.Cascade Kid wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 10:37 pmScreenshot 2023-04-18 153419.jpg

This could seriously scramble the eggs is Houston finds a way to drop out of #2 and stay in the top 7 or 8. The likely candidate to take #2 from Houston are the Raiders. But are they willing to give up the capital to do so?
Pete and John may surprise us all and go for Witherspoon. Didn't Marcus Trufant go to us at 11 back in the day?

It's why Houston is spreading the rumor they aren't going to take a QB at 2 - because everybody knew what they were going to do. It'd be ridiculous for them NOT to take a QB. It's also why the Seahawks have been so public about scouting the QBs, yet the fact Will Anderson was in Seattle today got no mention.Cascade Kid wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 12:02 am
It's out there that Houston are not just taking calls but actually making calls and not getting interest in #2. And it is doubtful they want to move back to #7 because it might take them out of either Anderson or Wilson. Houston has a major need at Edge so Anderson makes sense, and they might be more interested in banking on Mills driving them into another top 5 pick so they can take a chance at QB in the talented 2024 field. This move could really turn the Texans' franchise around.
Furthermore, since Houston is not getting any good bites from teams at #2, I doubt AZ is getting any reasonable bites at #3. All 4 QBs have their major imperfections and one blue chip DT has more question marks than the Riddler. Nobody is chomping at the bit for #2 or #3.
JS/PC are playing chess and Houston and Arizona are playing chinese checkers (can't even give them credit for regular checkers, because they're so bad at it nobody knows WTF they're playing).
That was like Abbott and Costello with those two today lol; nobody's talking down there at VMAC. If I'd bet on one thing, it's that nobody knows what we are going to do at the 5-pick, much less #20 and beyond.

You mean the same guys that spent two 1st round picks on one safety? Also, it sounds like Jody ripped on them right before they walked in, because they are acting like contrite, quiet kids who just caught doing something that is costing a lot of money, and they think it is funny.

Re: Who's Your Pick At #5
I know. I can't see them picking Witherspoon either. It's gonna be a QB or DL. I don't think they move off the number 5 spot though. There's too much value up near the top, and they need a game changer, not extra mediocre pick players.57reasons wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 2:44 amnot to Pete and John - that was the Holmgren era. when has PC/JS ever drafted a CB higher than 3rd round, or on the smaller side (other than Amadi specifically for the slot)?Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 12:40 amLike I said, Houston and Arizona both want out of 2 and 3, but nobody is willing to give up the capital, which then makes me think, why would anybody think the Seahawks could trade back from if Arizona or Houston can't. Re: Who's Your Pick At #5
Yeah, I agree. I think there are a number of scenarios that must play out before they decide on a selection. For the longest time I felt like it would go, QB, QB, QB, QB. That's not the case anymore. I would have been excited with Will Anderson. Now we probably don't get him, which sucks! But maybe they can at least still get a QB like Richardson or Stroud.maoling wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 3:01 amYup, did today's Mutt and Jeff presser post here already with JS and PC?SeattleAddict wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 2:27 amannnnnnnd THIS is why teams feed a bunch of bullshit information about who they're picking. Re: Who's Your Pick At #5
Oh it got mentioned. I read the article on Field Gulls. And I agree, teams aren't willing to pay the iron price, yet anyways. There's too many variables on the table. But after hearing what Houston's GM said about not needing to select a franchise altering player at 2 is telling. Young is going #1, we all know that now. Houston could go defense first and build from that side first. QB is not a MUST for them. If I'm Seattle, I'm staying put until the draft starts, and then decide as it goes along.SeattleAddict wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 2:27 amannnnnnnd THIS is why teams feed a bunch of bullshit information about who they're picking. that was half an hour that gave no clues to anything lol. I enjoyed it, though. They even specifically talked about how they're even competitive about NOT leaking information. It's SO obvious to me they only let out info they want to let out... which is false info.maoling wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 3:01 am

All the talk about drafting QBs means no way they're taking one (at least not intending to... I'm sure option 3 would be take a QB if it broke a certain way). Pete was asked at the combine what position groups stood out, and he mentioned QBs, tight ends, safeties - all positions they don't really need. He specifically did NOT mention linemen or linebackers, which they needed desperately. Why? Because if he said the O-linemen looked great, the world would know they were looking at O-linemen. Instead, everybody has the Seahawks taking QB or an EDGE not named Anderson, which is EXACTLY what they want.
Everything is a swerve.
