TB loses, that helps with the playoffs bracketing
Can't believe the Pats this season. I guess firing their DEI HC who said the NFL racist and hiring Vrabel was a smart move.
Would it be possible in your mind to hire and fire a black person without it involving DEI?
I don't think he was hired because he was black but I disagree with this:
During his introductory press conference as the first Black head coach of the New England Patriots, Jerod Mayo addressed the topic of race, stating:
"I do see color because I believe if you don't see color, you can't see racism".
He explained that acknowledging race and differences is important for understanding people and addressing societal problems.
This stance generated discussion and mixed reactions, but it was a statement about his approach to diversity and inclusion, not an indication of racism. News coverage of his comments emphasizes his desire to foster an inclusive environment and use his platform to create equity and opportunity.
OTOH
Todd Bowles has expressed that he believes the media makes too "big a deal" out of race in the NFL and has downplayed its significance in his coaching career. He stated, "We coach ball. We don't look at color".
In a 2022 press conference, when asked about facing another Black head coach, Mike Tomlin, Bowles suggested that highlighting race in this way implies it's an unusual event, stating, "I think the minute you guys stop making a big deal about it, everybody else will as well". He believes such focus diminishes the achievements of Black coaches and that it should be a normal occurrence. Bowles emphasized that being a good coach is paramount, regardless of race.
Guess which guy is still a head coach and headed to the playoffs. Huh funny how that works when you focus on being a good HC instead of a DEI crusader.
