It's kinda interesting really, the topic. Here's a guy that had developed a product he wanted to adapt for cloud seeding. Believe Livingston hooked up with him. There's nothing about it on the internet after like 2005 so I don't think it took off. It would have been too expensive to experiment with and it be difficult to judge a success. It was aimed at lessening the impact of storms. But that's the thing, how do you prove what sort of impact it has. If the storm actually increases you will get blamed for it. The deal is it be a major attempt at an intervention. He says like ten jumbo jets of the stuff. They also talk about possibly changing the direction. If you laid a huge oil slick in front of the storm. But it's not the sort of thing you pull off in the middle of the night with no one noticing

https://www.heraldtribune.com/story/new ... 441916007/
“The hurricane project, that is my thing right now,” says the founder and chief executive of Jupiter-based Dyn-O-Mat Inc.

With a pile of polymer powder no bigger than a pencil eraser, Cordani says he can soak up a bowl of water in a second. For the past five years, he has been working to perfect a system for soaking up enough of a hurricane to stop it in its tracks, or to at least slow it down.

He has lined up credentialed scientists willing to consider his plan and even a jet fleet owner willing to drop the chemical on an unsuspecting storm.

The basic idea is to use as many as 10 modified jumbo jets to drop gigantic quantities of his stuff into a carefully selected pie-shaped wedge of a rotating hurricane.

X has allowed readers to "add context" to an MTG post. The first couple I read seem to minimize the "weather control" angle.

But isn't that, like, kinda censorship or violating MTG's first amendment rights ... to be an absolute asshole? :?

I agree the campaign should be about policy. And I've said before (back when the primaries were happening and there were multiple Republican candidates running to oppose Biden) that if the Republicans chose someone who would focus on policy, they would win in a walk.

So who started talking about hurricanes being steered to maximize the impact on Republican areas? Who is making claims about the federal response being slower in Republican areas? Who claimed that Governor Kemp of Georgia couldn't reach Biden by phone? (Not Kemp: He said that Biden first tried to call *him* and that he - Kemp - missed the call.) Not Harris supporters, obviously.

It seems clear to me that Harris doesn't want to talk about certain things because they are poloitically losing issues for her. But in my opinion it's too bad (for Republicans and for the country) that we have a Republican candidate who is spreading falsehoods about a horrible disaster as a campaign tactic.

As much as I dread what will happen with Hurricane Milton, I fear the aftermath will be even worse if similar falsehoods are spread by Trump and his supporters.

Honest to God I laugh every time you post - you are such a cliche for people who watch CNN / MSNBC - you follow their marching orders like a good brown shirt. You talk out of both sides of your mouth - you'd 'like to discuss policy', yet you LITERALLY acknowledge the dems policies are fucking awful, and go right into ORANGE MAN BAD.

Thank you for this morning's chuckle, I needed that. I think you are a genuinely good dude, I just feel bad for you that you relentlessly bend the knee to the party - without any critical or independent thinking of your own - to your own peril. When you think about it, that's dem voters in a nutshell.
Glad I gave you a chuckle. I don't know if I'm more amused or saddened that a smart person like yourself assumes these things about me. I don't have cable. I don't watch CNN or MSNBC. Your saying I follow marching orders is BS.

Fuck the orange man bad shit. The only people I have heard saying this for a long time are Trump supporters making caricatures of his opponents.

My *attempted* point (not sure you got it), is that I think Republicans would be better served to be talking about policy rather than spreading the misinformation about the steering of the hurricane and the federal response to the tragedy.

So you are ignoring what I said, and you are making me out to be a caricature of someone you think exists.

But, as the James Taylor song goes, "maybe you can believe it if it helps you to sleep."
lol - GIl you ARE a caricature. You admit dems policies are awful - yet you're gonna vote for them. You pretend to lament people ignoring policy to focus on "orange man bad" and then you literally do the EXACT same thing - AND THEN GET MAD when it's pointed out to you. Ignore all policy, orange man bad. Hypocrisy much?

Here's a policy question for you - somewhere you said you thought Biden has done a good job with the economy - which is so laughably untrue, let's get into the weeds.

Gas on my corner when trump left was 2.99 - it's currently 4.89 - over 60% higher - down from 140% higher - because Biden cut drilling. Is that the policy you support? 60% higher gas prices?
Food has doubled - a direct result of inflation and gas prices - you support this policy?
Biden printed so much money it LITERALLY sent the economy into inflation. You support that policy?
Biden sent billions to Ukraine - with NO RETURN ON INVESTMENT to the American taxpayer - you support that policy?
Biden is sending millions to the middle east to keep war going - you support that policy?
Biden is spending billions to house and feed ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS - NOT LEGAL - ILLEGAL - at taxpayer expense - you support that policy?

Imagine what those billions and billions of dollars - literally given way with NO RETURN to the american taxpayer - could do HERE - especially with the hurricanes - it's what we are supposed to be doing with our money - spending it for the betterment of OUR COUNTRY.

Gil, you are a cliche - you prove every time you post that you are completely aligned with the dems and their nonsensical BS - because YOU SUPPORT them and mirror their tactics - like avoiding talking about policy failures - that you admit to - and focusing on Trump. NO ONE CARES about who said what about hurricanes - they are gonna vote with their wallet and for safety and foreign policy - while you continue to bang the orange man bad drum - while pretending you don't.

You insult my intelligence with "Biden had good economic policy", while we sit in the middle of the worst economic landscape of my lifetime - it's the number one issue to the vast majority of americans - you admit to total failure of all of the dem policies - and then, in the middle of crushing inflation, say you support his economic policy. WTF? That makes NO SENSE.

Further proof you are a caricature - in the middle of an election cycle you start a thread about abortion - a 'hot topic" issue whose ONLY use at this point is as a distraction. Somehow Melania Trump's opinion of abortion matters? No, it doesn't. Trump himself has said he supports abortion for three reasons - incest, rape, maternal endangerment.
Further to that - the feds kicked it down to the states - where it belongs - making it a TOTAL NON ISSUE in this election. More proof of your refusal to discuss rational policy and instead you traffic in silly, hollow, PREDICTABLE distractions - like that thread. Just like the dems, just like CNN. As always you claim one thing while saying another. And that's fine - makes no difference to me - just stop insulting people's intelligence with this nonsense. OWN IT.

The last of my rant. DO you have any idea what pushed me into Trump's corner? Common sense. I didn't vote for him the first time - i went johnson because I wasn't interested in a celebrity and would never vote for hillary - I know too many things from people that worked directly for her. Once trump got in and all the 'outrage began' I asked myself- where is all this coming from? No one was 'outraged' at the Apprentice dude - it all felt manufactured, so I looked into it on my own - the first 'outrage" I looked into was the OMG HE HATES THE PLANET - HE WANTS TO KILL THE PARIS CLIMATE AGREEMENT!

SO I downloaded it and read it and my fucking jaw dropped when I realized it was a complete scam that the US taxpayer was COMPLETELY on the hook for - we were the checkbook, giving away money AND TECHNOLOGY for free - with ZERO defined goals or any return - literally nothing. Trump wanted out of that and I could not agree more. These are complete scams meant to fuck the US tax payer -just like NATO - funding a nonsensical war machine who serves no actual purpose anymore except war and destruction that we are paying for - remember why NATO was formed - it is not relevant anymore. The list of actions bankrupting the american taxpayer was growing and Trump was pointing out how bad a deal they were for us - and he was right - objectively.

Remember this - the person most aligned with you on here - claimed trump is a racist (because of course, can't talk policy) and when it's pointed out he funded more black colleges than any other president - he says ' that doesn't count. LOL! Riiiight. Also, he's voting for Kamala because he saw a merch booth on the side of the road selling trump hats. This is then type of 'rational thinkers" you are aligned with, meanwhile I am in the weeds on policy and can show it. I Ignore the noise, while you continue to swim in those waters while denying it - which again, I support you doing, just stop pretending you are something other than what your exact words show you to be.

I still think you are a good dude and person who seems to want to see the light, but ultimately refuses to - unlike that other completely unhinged merch booth hater. I haven't seen that kind of crazy since that flat earther dude on here. Sorry for the long rant - but you should have carefully thought out ideas and thoughts if you are going to stand behind them. And trying to make the discussion about abortion - when it is no factor at all - is just such a CNN/Dem tactic. C'mon man.

You are hitching your wagon to someone who was a blatant DEI VP hire, did NOTHING in 4 years, yet claims NOW she's gonna do something, cannot speak publicly, was involved in the worst administration of my lifetime, you cannot name a single thing that is better under her, she wasn't nominated she was forced onto the ticket - and you don't question ANY of that.

Like I said, make it make sense dude..

Once I saw gas prices I traded in my Aston Martin for a Kia EV6. There was already a Tesla charger in the Garage, just bought an adaptor for $50 and am all set. I traded it in for a four year least and got $3k back. In four years I can by a $50k car for $19k or just turn it in.

The acceleration is just as good as the Aston Martin and I have a brand new vehicle instead of a 17 yo car. Dream world.

Jesus Christ... every one of your posts is just an enormous gish gallop.

You post like 100x positions we don't hold and then get all upset when we don't answer all of them. Sorry, I'm not going to take 5 minutes to justify stances I don't take that you've made up. For some reason that makes you think you've won something. It's insane.

"Here's 18 questions I've framed with a full-on bullshit slant that I won't accept any of your answers on even if you answer them!!! so I've won!!!"

"Abortion isn't an issue!!! herrrrr derrrrrrr!!!" Like what?

Hey! Where did my post go! Yesterday I wrote a long reply to you, auroraave, saying you convinced me, and I am now leaning toward Trump. (No not really.) But the truth is, if I accepted everything you say as fact, I would most likely vote for Trump.

Let me start with clarifying. You said "You admit dems policies are awful". What I said was "It seems clear to me that Harris doesn't want to talk about certain things because they are poloitically losing issues for her." (You can tell this is an accurate quote because of the typo.) You might consider this to be splitting hairs, but to me, considering something a "politically losing issue" is NOT the same as being an awful policy. Your arguments - clear, powerful, well stated - are the case against Biden/Harris. I just disagree with many of your arguments, but I think a politician needs clear, pithy comebacks, and the case against what you said is more complex than a soundbite.

As to the economy,
1. I think you are wrong about the effect of cancelling the Keystone XL pipeline. It didn't reduce any oil production; it did not "cut drilling." Keystone XL was proposed as part of a network (there are other Keystone pipelines), was supported by Trump, and was 8% built out when Biden pulled the permit. I said before, the project folded quickly, which indicates to me that its investors saw they had a turkey and cut their losses. Even if Biden had not pulled the permit, even if there would have been more oil, would the remanning 92% have been completed within a year (when gas prices started going up) or even within the last 3.75 years? In other words, blaming this pipeline for increased gas prices is a red herring. And Biden did not cut production.

2. Inflation was not limited to the US. The rate of inflation has gone down, in all the developed countries that experienced it. The causes were related to supply chain issues due to shutdowns and changing consumer purchasing patterns, labor shortages, and the the bounce back from the pandemic shutdowns. In the case of the US, there were government payments to individuals to stimulate spending - of course these were inflationary. (If I recall correctly, I received 2 checks when Trump was president and one check under Biden, but I might be wrong about this.) In short, I don't believe that Biden caused prices to go up in Germany or Great Britain.

Otherwise, you keep bringing up "Orange Man Bad." Have I ever said anything like this? Yes, I do disagree with some of the things Trump did. (Reducing taxes on very high income individuals and his choices for Supreme Count justices.) Yes, I think it is horrible, bordering on unpatriotic, the misinformation he has been spreading about disaster assistance after Helene.

And finally (for this post, not responding to everything you said), I think there is an emerging (actually "emerged" is a better term) alliance among China, Iran, and Russia (can probably put North Korea in this too) who are enemies of America and are run by bad people. I don't think we can afford to appease any of them. That doesn't mean I support Netanyahu and his ultra religious zealots who make up a big part of his coalition, but in the big picture, yes, I support our aid to Israel. I support our aid to Ukraine. I would support defense of Taiwan.

I hope nothing here makes you feel that I am trying to insult your intelligence. Exactly the opposite.

Gas prices from 1990....kind of funny they skyrocket in 2020.

I think you are wrong about the effect of cancelling the Keystone XL pipeline. It didn't reduce any oil production; it did not "cut drilling."
But it did slow the 'potential' movement of the oil. Wouldn't that fall under "supply chain" issues that you brought up later?
I said before, the project folded quickly, which indicates to me that its investors saw they had a turkey and cut their losses.
And why did the investors see it as a bad investment? Maybe because if the President of the United States is against it they knew it wasn't going to happen.
Even if Biden had not pulled the permit, even if there would have been more oil, would the remaining 92% have been completed within a year (when gas prices started going up) or even within the last 3.75 years?
Talk about a red herring!!
Inflation was not limited to the US. The rate of inflation has gone down, in all the developed countries that experienced it.
A couple things.....
We are in a world economy. So when the USA has inflation, do you not believe that we can PULL other countries into inflation along with us? As for your idea that inflation has gone down.....
If I am 200 lbs in 2020
And gain 20 pounds in 2021
and gain 20 pounds in 2022
and gain 20 pounds in 2023, that would be gaining 60 pounds.
Now if I lose 20 pounds in 2024 (lose 20 pounds) I can't really say that I am losing weight. Not compared to the 40 extra that is already there.

All we have is a 'new normal'.
The causes were related to supply chain issues due to shutdowns and changing consumer purchasing patterns, labor shortages, and the the bounce back from the pandemic shutdowns.
All true. But President Trump only called for a 2-week shut down to flatten the curve. It was the Democrats that demanded the shutdown to last longer. Shit man, even in 2023, the teachers union was bitching about having to go back to in-class studies.
In the case of the US, there were government payments to individuals to stimulate spending - of course these were inflationary.

Of course they were. But I do understand that people needed to survive while the prolonged Democrat shutdown was in place. And if this government spending was already 'going to cause' some inflation, what do you think all the spending that Biden/Harris did in the first year did for inflation? It's simple logic...... government spending creates inflation, and their spending was a leading cause.... Inflation reduction Act, my ass.
In short, I don't believe that Biden caused prices to go up in Germany or Great Britain.
WORLD ECONOMY
How many things are tied to the US dollar?
