I think Santana has less than two weeks left in Seattle.
Curious to see what kind of package he brings back if the M's do trade him. Hopefully something better than Motter.

I didn't, but who knows if this is anything close to what Mariners might end up getting in return. Hankins seems pretty intriguing though.

I guess it did answer my question though
Whatever happens, the Mariners are almost certainly better off having had Domingo Santana than Ben Gamel for 2019.

It's a shame because Santana/Vogelbach/Haniger is a nice MOTO.

35 homerun players dont grow on trees, I hope they can extend him instead of continuing the prospect carousel. When you find a good answer, keep it. Not all of these guys will be good in Seattle, we know that much.

Keeping Mallex Smith instead is a little stomach-turning.

DSL: Marte has cooled off a bit no hits in his last 15AB's. Two other guys I am keeping an eye on is Jonatan Clase .281 .405 .453 .858 who is not hitting many dingers but getting a lot of extra base hits and boy can he take a walk and Ortwin Pitermella .309 .412 .481 .894 who also doesn't hit for much power but is hitting for extra bases and can take a walk. The difficulty with Pietermella is he is a good 2 to 3 years older than most of the guys in the DSL but only got to the DSL lat season and had limited chances last season too.

WV: Mentioned Devon Sweet few days back, gave up a few hits yesterday but struck 7 out and just the one walk. Seems throughout the organisation a lot of pitchers are buying into JD's philosophy which is great to see. Arias who I have also been high on blew the save giving a HR up but not rattled, struck out the rest of his batters and got the W with no walks or other hits.

Ark: Yet another reliever Tenuta is dealing(0.91 whip), I honestly struggle to see how outside of Gilbert we don't have one other starter who can crack the rotation as a serviceable 5th or spot starter and at least two good relievers in the pen.

BTW a 25 year old 2017 draftee just became the new Everett interim manager.
Leadership change in Everett: third-year manager (and 19-year member of the organization) Jose Moreno is out as the AquaSox manager; 2017 draftee (!) and Modesto coach Louis Boyd will take over as interim manager. Boyd is 25 years old.

Yeah, I would much rather ship Mallex but he wouldn't bring as much back obviously.....

There are 37 guys on pace for 35 or more home runs. Santana isn't even one of them He is on pace for 31. He is not that rare of a bat and a lot of his positives are countered by bad defense. That being said I really see no reason to dump him at this point. You aren't going to get anything earth shattering for him in return and he is not making much money. I'd hang on to him and see if he takes another step forward next year.

Another guy that doesn't get talked about a lot is Darren McGaughan. Made his first start in Tacoma yesterday. Decent line with 5.0 ip, 3 ER. He did have 2 BB, which is uncharacteristic for him. He only had 10 BB in Arkansas in 100 ip. 89 SO through 100 ip, so not the most overpowering guy. May not have the stuff to make it in MLB, but he's been really good up to this point.

I'm intrigued how Mcaughan does from here, he was amazing in AA.
