I didn't even realize that the Suns team that made the Finals in 1976 went 42-40, and it's not like the 1978 Sonics team that went 5-17 and then turned it around, those Suns were a straight-up .500 team. Couple other things I, and perhaps everyone here, didn't know: Nate McMillian is the coach for the Hawks and he got them to the conference finals, and Quin Snyder (Mercer Island) is the coach for the Jazz and they had the best regular-season record.
So these Suns were terrible for four years, sub-.500 last year, and now here they are, and without a Magic- or Bird-type draft steal.
