8/12/21 Going for a first-place tie with Rockycola game thread

Post by DavidGee24 » Thu Aug 12, 2021 5:16 pm

We get this one today and the worst I'll be when my turn ends is 9-4, tied with Rocky and 1/2 game ahead of 8-4 Idaho.

The three top dogs presently a combined 25-11 but in honor of Mariner management we are going to stick with the 14-man rotation.

No lineups yet to post. Once again we'll be facing shitty pitching so hopefully we can pull out another 2-1 victory.

 Far better to laugh than cry and those are the only to options with this offense.

Well you have to stick with what got ya here and that was a 14man rotation, we could DFA those with losing records though

Hey we're still all technically "in it" still. All i need is for the M's to rip off 8 straight wins my next time up and i could be in 1st place.

Today's news in baseball:

1) Corbin Burnes last night tied the MLB record with ten straight strikeouts. Aaron Nola had also tied the record in June. Did anyone know this? That's how cheap the strikeout has become, the great Tom Seaver's record gets tied, and not only does it barely make a ripple but it almost immediately happens a second time.

2) Chris Davis retires. Hopefully at his announcement he wore a ski mask or pantyhose on his head.

3) Jake Arrieta DFA'd by the Cubs. His career arc should be accompanied by a really loud double kazoo sound effect. https://www.baseball-reference.com/play ... ja01.shtml

4) White Sox and Yankees play the Field Of Dreams game today. I wouldn't even have known it if I hadn't just looked it up. The field they'll be playing at was constructed a short walk away from the actual FOD location.

I told you guys yesterday that my pick to click was Bauers and I was right! As soon as they replaced him in the lineup, we won the game! Stroke of Genius!

I wonder how bank robbers decide between a ski mask and panty hose over the head? I guess it depends on whether they live near a ski resort or still live in their mother's basement.
