We would then have two 3Bs. Only way you keep Kyle is sign Semien to play 2B.seattlefan-daBronx wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 6:03 pmHow do the Seattle Mariners want to win?
Via the homerun ball?
Or getting on base and driving in those runs with consistant hitting (small ball).
Walks, steal, move the runner to 3rd, sac fly scores ala Kansas City.
Even KC proves you can be built like that but STILL need power hitters on your club.
It's a mix of both worlds.
We win alot right now via the homerun ball. IF that's the winning formula then sign Kyle.
Me personally I love the small ball and believe in producing runs. Our park is built for that.
Yet we continue to rely heavily on the long ball. Which is probably why our guys do so well on the road.
I say buy Kyle for a year AND sign JRam. I don't believe the young crew we have wins you a World Series just yet.
Just my humble opinion. We got the money. Time for a bat and an arm. Takes a few years for guys to develop into everyday productive players.
Look at JP and France as examples.

What did you expect with his dreams of being the Mariners' starting 2B for the next decade dashed? It was probably all he could do to hoist his bat over his shoulder that day. Have a heart for pity's sake.D-train wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 6:47 pmHe started the next day and went 0-3 with 2Ks. Seriously, though, the biggest benefit of having Toro has been there being fewer at-bats for the likes of Jake Bauers and Shed Long. As far as his being a future piece goes, does he really add that much value?Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 7:55 pmWhat did you expect with his dreams of being the Mariners' starting 2B for the next decade dashed? Re: Seager Option
Think of his value as a trade piece to spice up a deal for JRam or some other big bat. We could offer something like Hancock, Marte and Toro which might be enough to get the deal done. Obviously wouldn't have been able to do that with Graveman.

He's only 24 years old and he's only played 150 career MLB games. He shows an advanced contact-centered approach at the plate, it just hasn't translated to high batting averages yet. Young guys who K and BB at basically a 1.5:1 ratio, teams are gonna be high on them.
I can see Toro turning into a Brantley type.

Toro is a switch hitter with an advanced approach at the plate. He may increase in power as he matures. He has a medium range, his arm is not totally accurate nor strong. He is slightly above average as a baserunner.
I favor Dillon Moore as a utility player, not as good an approach at the plate, but more power. Excellent range, good arm, runs good routes and should increase in power as he matures. Toro may be an excellent trade chip.
If this team could upgrade at third by trading for JRam, do it and trade Seager or let him go. You lose nothing in defense, gain 100 points in OPS, cut strikeouts in half, and add a pitch wrecking base stealer who is a real team leader. And you can still sign Semien and use Moore as utility. Or you can sign Merrifield and gain even more stolen bases though you don't get the home runs. Still you probably add more than one hundred hits by acquiring both JRam and Merrifield.
