Offseason Plans
Re: Offseason Plans
Talk about guys that will never come here. Freeman will never be within 2500 miles of here. Besides France is our 1B.

Re: Offseason Plans
Considering Jerry hasn't done any work since the draft, I would agree its all in front of him.

Bryce Harper is under contract for 10 more years. You can't sign him.AT Funchal-Madeira wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 8:00 amYeah, great season.. most fun I've had watching M's play in twenty years. Glad Seager is moving forward, he'd enjoy playing in the AL East with those short right field fences and glad the M's were open about their plans. So different from Jack Z. We need to replace and add onto left hand power and I'd love to keep it fairly young. So let's get started and spend some of our trade chips and go get Jose Ramirez to play third, let's sign Bryce Harper, offer to turn Kikuchi into a bullpen lefty or refuse any option, sign Carlos Rodon, bring in Munoz, Kerr, and Gilly to the pen to add to Ramirez, Sadler, Steckenrider, and Sewald., release Murphy and trade to Toronto for their number three catcher, Reese McGuire?....

Re: Offseason Plans
France is an average bat at 1B (13th in OPS among those qualified) he would be an elite bat at 2b. If you can upgrade at 1B and slide France to second you would be improving 2 positions.D-train wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 12:50 pmTalk about guys that will never come here. Re: Offseason Plans
He had a .942 OPS before getting injured and a .846 OPS after. And he is only 26 so could improve on that. The FA options at 2B/3B are far better than 1B.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 3:19 pmFrance is an average bat at 1B (13th in OPS among those qualified) he would be an elite bat at 2b. He will only be 39 in 2032. I say we conserve budget to prepare to bid on him at that point.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 3:15 pmBryce Harper is under contract for 10 more years. Re: Offseason Plans
My moves are simple. Trade for Matt Olson, Move Ty France to second. Sign Kris Bryant to play 3rd/ Outfield. Sign Max Scherzer.
C Torrens/Raleigh
1b Olson
2b France
3b Bryant/Toro
SS Crawford
LF Kelenic/Bryant
CF Lewis/ Kelenic
RF Hanniger/ Bryant
DH Hanniger/Lewis/ Toro
Rotation
Scherzer
Flexen
Gonzalez
Gilbert
Brash
Pen
Lefties
Minkiwizyskievich
Sheffield
Yusei (if he picks up the player option)
righties
Dunn
Sadler
Giles
Steckenrider
Munoz
Sewald
There is a good chance that you would have to lose Kelenic and or Brash to pick up Olson in that case slide J-ROD and Kirby into those spots.

Re: Offseason Plans
I sorta doubt the A's would trade Matt Olson now. He's going to make somewhere around $11 million next year which they can totally afford and he's under team control for another year after that. They have to believe 2022 is likely the last year they have to seriously contend and they're going to go for it before selling it all off in 2023.
