I don't see this as a crunch.... there's plenty of guys we can chop off...McCaughan, Margevicus, Newsome, and Haggerty. We can DFA Long, Bauers, Walton, Godoy, even Fletcher, Trammell, and Walton as far as I'm concerned. None of those guys is gonna lead us to the playoffs.
While we may see it that way, I am sure Dipoto sees value in Trammel and couple of others he has held so tightly.

Along with Kerr, I protect Dayeison Arias. I cut Fletcher to make space.

I'd probably keep Walton. He's insurance for the utility spot in case Moore gets hurt.

I would like to see if Walton is better than Moore. I know the league formerly known as the PCL is a hitters paradise but his .304/.915 leads me to think he can at least hit better than Moore's .180/.600

They won't protect Darren Mc.

Carlson had a really rough go way down in low A. Zero chance he would get picked.
Carlson had a decent season, wouldn't call it a "rough go." Lots of innings, ERA in the 4s, good K/9

4.77 ERA and 1.51 WHIP in low A is rough. At least he pitched 100 innings. How in the hell does a guy that was injured for YEARS pitch 50% more innings than Kirby??????

One thing about Walton is that he doesn't have options left. I'm not 100% sure how that works, but he had major league call ups in 2019, 2020, and 2021 and I believe three is all you get.

Just to expand a bit on players and minor league options, Padlo looks like he has two options left, which may be why they picked him up late in the year - thinking that he could be the up/down guy next year.

Both Padlo and Walton have one option remaining.

This has all options and R5 status for every player in the system:

I doubt he is any better. Walton has over 100 MLB Plate appearances and has a .575 OPS.

Yeah but I think he is a better hitter now.
