So why, then, are you against trading Penny for him straight up?
Personally, i'd rather not make the team less competitive in 2020 and 2021 in order to go for it this season.

I'm guessing it's because you believe Penny will contribute enough this season that losing him would offset the gain of adding Clowney. That's not an unreasonable point, as long as you believe they are that good right now to have a shot to go all the way.
How about dealing Prosise along with Pocic or Brown (the WR) to the Texans for Clowny. Would you be in favor of that? I would.

He had 4 less sacks... but was one of the top run-stopping defensive ends in the in the NFL. PFF graded him 10 points higher than Clark overall because of it. He had a 91.2 run D grade and LED the NFL w/ stops for no gain or loss against the run. He's had 22 more tackles for loss than Clark over the last 3 seasons... and at least 5 more than him every year (11 more in 2017). Also... in flat out tackles, he absolutely smokes Clark. Clowney has averaged 105 solo/combo/assisted tackles over the last 3 years... Clark? 80. Why? Because Clowney isn’t a 1-trick pony and plays a hell of a lot more. He’s averaged 128 more snaps per season over the last 3 years than Clark.ThePro wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2019 6:38 amI disagree with that. Clowney is not better than Clark. He sure in the hell isn't more complete. Clark has more sacks and not even close to the injury history of Clowney. And a DT that registered 10.5 sacks from the interior isn't easy to find more or less replace.IStillLoveTheMs wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2019 3:42 amNobody. And I'd sign him to an extension + let Reed walk. He's a better, more complete player than Clarke and DT's are easier to replace in the draft/in veteran f/a.
I know, because we've had this discussion in the past, that you think sacks are the only thing in the world that matters for an edge rusher. But no, Clowney is the better, more complete defender.
I'd rather pay a super quality edge rusher who can do it all... than a DT. Reed also received a low run grade...

You can't argue with "the pro" because he's always right and his sports knowledge is vastly superior to everyone else's

They can sign both and no Clowney isn't better than Clark. Last year was Clark's first year starting(discrepancy in tackles) he still outperformed Clowney on the edge. Moot point because he is gone Hawks received compensation for him amd now they need to replace him. uIStillLoveTheMs wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2019 2:45 pm

You're going to have to come up with something better than PFF . Clowney does have the potential to be better than Clark in this system but right now Clark is the better player.

According to this guy Clowney wants to play for the Seahawks or Eagles.. I knew something was up. That's probably why he won't sign his tender.

Looks like Clowney just fired his agent (well, 5-days ago). I am guessing that the new agent's first task will be to get him on a new team!

Interesting, the Dolphins don't think he's worth a 1st round pick either.
