I’ve got 10 pitchers of beer riding on this at spring training. If anyone around here remembers the price of a single beer at Peoria than you all would be rooting for this for that reason alone.

Just to clarify. If France isn't the starting 1B on OD then you get 10 pitchers and if he is then you pay one pitcher?Coeurd’Alene J wrote: ↑Mon Nov 22, 2021 11:58 amI’ve got 10 pitchers of beer riding on this at spring training. its not just about France, its Dipoto going out of his way at a press conference being specific about certain aspects of his roster. Its aimed at players, fans, other clubs, everybody. There was no particular need for it, but he seems to think having certain parameters laid out is helpful. To me he has been pretty clear on how he intends to go about putting the team together. When he says France is going to be his first baseman next season I can think of no other reason for saying it other than he means it, its a decision he has made, and he felt happy to share it. You guys want to rosterbate around that fine, I think he means it. We shall seeD-train wrote: ↑Mon Nov 22, 2021 11:37 amWhy he felt the need to make that decision now AND make it public makes me serious doubt his competence. I doubt France had been laying awake all night with cold sweats wondering if he was going to play first or third where he has played 461 games as a pro.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Mon Nov 22, 2021 5:47 amThat, you don't tell a player that if you are not serious about. Don't tell me Dipoto can just change his mind. That would create credibility issues with the clubhouse. Careful consideration needs to go into decisions like that.Divish, meanwhile, reported some updates on the existing roster, which will help inform Seattle (and its fans) which free agents are worth pursuing. Notably, Ty France has been told he will be the Mariners' starting first baseman next season.

He is making it clear he doesn't know how to go about an off season is what he is doing.

Every day the Mariners don't make a move is a day closer to Evan White being our Starting LF next season.

According to multiple reports, the San Francisco Giants are in the midst of advanced negotiations with Los Angeles Angels pitcher Alex Cobb. The 34-year-old right-handed pitcher was 8-3 in 2021, recording a 3.76 ERA and 98 strikeouts in 18 starts.

Four trade targets the Mariners could trade for.
